Rocket always had only himself to blame. Really, if he boiled it all down to one moment. He'd royally screwed over his chances at normal, he hadn't been made for normal in mind. He'd been far more of a fuck up lately and there was no denying it, not even to his new friends. Not even to himself. Maybe taking some time off to make some cash on the side will clear his mind. Hell, maybe it'll change everything wrong there is with him, or at least, that's what he ends up wishing for.
A tale in which Rocket finds himself becoming human overnight and has to recollect what truly matters to him, and what it means to be who he is before it's too late.

In Geralt's life, more often than not, touch meant pain. From being held down during the trials, to blows exchanged during fights, every unpleasant touch of skin against skin was only amplified by his enhanced senses.
The only people who he trusted to respect his boundaries, whose touch brought comfort instead of pain, were Eskel, Lambert, and Vesemir. He only saw them during winter, but that was fine. He could go nine months of the year without friendly touch; he'd been doing it for decades. It was better this way, better for everyone.
