Shane’s eyebrows fly up. “What? You don’t want to come with?”
Finally, Ilya looks up at him. Hesitantly, he asks, “You want me to come with?”
Frowning, Shane says, “I– yeah. Yeah, of course. You think I invited you here just so you could spend Christmas alone?”
Looking away, Ilya shrugs. “I am intruder here, Hollander. You have family. I do not. Makes situation… difficult, maybe. You forget the world thinks we are rivals.”
“Not difficult,” Shane says immediately. “You want to come, you’re coming.”

Buck doesn’t dignify that with an answer because they both know what he’d say, and Chris throws himself dramatically back against the couch.
“I called dibs on you today. Don’t let him sway you to his side.”
Something warm unfurls through Buck at the idea of that. Being important enough to Chris that he’d want to call dibs.
“There are no sides, bud.” He ruffles Chris’s hair, “But you know I’m always on your team.”

“You?” Eddie cuts in, eyes flickering between his parents. His phone buzzes in his pocket, signaling a call, but he ignores it. Whatever it is can wait.
Slowly, a hoarse laugh bubbles up. “You know what happens if I die? What happens to Christopher?”
More silence.
“He goes to Buck.”
Or: Buck and Eddie have a fight for the first time in years; Eddie flies to El Paso to get his son back; Buck gets kidnapped.

He’s sitting on his bed in cut off shorts and a tank top, about to go for his mid-morning run, probably, but this can’t wait; it's the most insane thing to ever happen to Buck and he’s survived a lot of truly insane shit.
'My dick’s gone,' he blurts out before Eddie's even looked up at him.
'What?' Eddie sways back like he’s just taken a hit, eyebrows rocketing up his forehead.
'I woke up and my dick was gone. I have a pussy now,' he gestures somewhat redundantly at his crotch.
'What? Buck?'
