This is one of the best fics I have read in a long time, I don't have anything to compare it to. A beautiful story and character study and subtle romance. Gus’ writing is intensely human. You hurt when the characters hurt, you’re happy when they’re happy and that’s underselling it because these characters aren’t “happy and hurt”, they’re…that warmth you feel in your chest when you’re pleased and the ache you feel when everything’s lost. The ability to explore such, frankly, complicated themes as love and religion at the same time without losing the plot is amazing to read and I was really blown away.
(By the way, the art that's come out of it is incredibly beautiful and I recommend you also go check THAT out too!)
