After meeting Viktor at the Progress Day Gala, Jayce can't seem to get him out of his head. Viktor is undoubtedly his equal in every way—unfathomably brilliant, daringly bold, and fiercely charming. He's also the prettiest person Jayce has ever seen. It should've been easy: Jayce asks him out, Viktor says yes, they get married, etc.
Except the night ended with a lot of smoke and bomb residue, a plethora of questions from everyone attending, and Viktor disappearing back into the Undercity before Jayce can beg him to stay.
Jayce's solution? Track Viktor down, ask him to move in with him, and figure it out from there.
Simple, right?
OR: Jayce falls long before he realizes just how much trouble he's actually in.

Vi paced the length of the room with her chin pinched firmly between her fingers. She had been tracing a wide oval on the floor, her boots clanking heavily with every step. They had been over the plan several times already, Viktor lamented soundlessly, but he understood her nerves. Ekko, who was busy spinning himself in one of Viktor’s office chairs, slowed to a stop with an exaggerated groan, dragging the toe of his shoes along Viktor’s floor. “Vi, how many more times are you gonna make us—”
“Until it’s perfect, Ekko.” Vi interrupted brusquely. “Everyone needs to be on the same page about what they’re doing, where they’re supposed to be, and what we’re after. We’re not gonna get another shot at this for months if we fail.”

OR: The kids from Zaun have a plan—find whatever Jayce Talis has been working on and steal it. The Progress Day Gala is the perfect opportunity to do so. The only issue? Viktor has to attend to "present" his research to Heimerdinger. He should be in and out quickly—just long enough to get Vi into place and dip. If all goes smoothly, he'll never have to interact with Jayce Talis at all. Simple, right?

Viktor is wearing dark lensed safety goggles, so he’s able to recognize the face immediately. The man shifts his giant hammer in his gloved hands and scans the lab with a serious expression. When his gaze lands on Viktor, his blue eyes go wide.

The other version of Viktor, the lonely mage who’d insisted there was only one, violent solution to the problem of himself, had reluctantly given him a tip. Physical touch , he had said, will temporarily disarm him. But you must kill him from a distance, do not let him get close.

Viktor "A," the mage who transcended mortality, reached over and over through the expanse of the Arcane to find an end to the eternal cycle he and Jayce are bound to. The journey finally over, he watches as his own Jayce is freed from the suffering they've endured for far, far too long, and quietly awaits his turn.
It does not come. Clearly there is work still to do.
Lost and now without purpose for the first time in eons, Viktor turns his energy toward the first act of atonement that comes to mind: rescuing Jayce "C," a variant whose unique circumstances have left him trapped in his dead-end timeline for over a decade. Perhaps if he can find somewhere safe for this Jayce to exist, he will finally earn his own story's end.
If only it were that easy. Viktor A has made a terribly human miscalculation- he failed to consider that he and Jayce C may have different expectations when it comes to their 'temporary' arrangement.

Half a decade after Viktor leaves Piltover for good, a fragment of Hexcore permanently adhered to his soul, an old friend comes to him for help. This wouldn't be an issue, if the same old friend hadn't spent the last five years trying to hit him, very hard, with a really big hammer.
“You’re not real,” Viktor repeated, closing his eyes. Even with the knowledge that this was a dream, the gentle touch unraveled him. There was an impact crater where his heart should be.
The calloused pad of Jayce's thumb found the corner of Viktor’s mouth. “All right. I’ll bite – what’s your evidence for this hypothesis?”
Viktor smiled into the touch, felt it tug against Jayce's thumbprint. “Isn’t it obvious? You haven’t tried to kill me yet.” -

Summary
Viktor’s plan to get himself banned from those ridiculously pompous galas went as follows:
-Wear the most revealing, most scandalous outfit he could.
-Wear the most makeup he could apply to himself without messing up.
-Be as rude and sarcastic as he could possibly be to everyone.
This plan was sure to get him banned from galas forever, Viktor was convinced of it. And sure, maybe he also felt at least a tiny bit bad for making Jayce clean up his mess afterwards, but he had insisted Viktor go to this gala, so if anything, he was partly to blame for this. He should have known Viktor would only agree to go under his own conditions.
Or: How Viktor's foolproof plan to stop getting invited to fancy parties totally backfires on him and turns him into Piltover's most elegible bachelor. And how he ends up dragging Jayce into it.

After several months of wandering the long corridors of Piltover's largest building, blindly navigating between the council chamber and his old laboratory, he had finally resigned himself to several things: Viktor was dead because of him and wasn't coming back, he no longer had a place in the future of this town to which he had wanted to bring magic, and finally, most pathetically of all, he wasn't sure he had anything left to live for.
After killing Viktor in the heart of the commune, Jayce realises that the Machine Herald will never appear in his reality. Desperate and lost, he decides to create an android resembling Viktor using the stone that the mage entrusted to him so long ago. In his quest to find his partner, is it possible that he has managed to find a part of Viktor through this piece of the arcane?
