NB: I have crossposted this story to Royalroad under the title System Override.
A forced experimental drug treatment at an early age has saddled David with an immense burden.
His mother’s insistence on his current lifepath as a corpo has done much the same.
David is a speeding ball of fire hurtling towards an unknown destination, and his mother’s death has left him adrift and unsure of his direction.
So he does what any teenager with no more fucks left to give does—he chips in some mil-spec chrome and looks for a quick way to earn edds, all the while learning to utilize the nanotechnology that had been forced on him as a child—finding out the immense potential within him as a result.
Corpo or Edgerunner? Why not both? And why not the best of both while we’re fucking at it?

Some thought that a trigger event was the traumatic part of getting powers.

Having lived thousands of years through the eyes of a hundred and more legends from another world, all in mere seconds, chosen through naught but mere happenstance during the death throes of a far distant reality, she found herself the bearer of uncountable beasts and monsters, men and women, abilities and spells, all borne from fantasy, yet far too real to ignore or pretend they did not once exist.
Inevitably, the walls lengthen, the bars thicken, the shackles tighten.
Undaunted, beaten but unbowed, she resolves to drag Earth Bet to a brighter tomorrow, no matter how much it kicks and screams on the way there.

Utilizing a hidden batch of cloning Tinkertech, Ziz carefully tapped into a particularly unique Shard loosely tied to the world. Utilizing traces of her own Endbringer flesh material, she enhanced the creature within to the point of near indestructibility. Finally, she shared her own mandates and, even as the being once known as Dauntless ended her existence, she triggered that ultimate failsafe.
The Wardens, warned by Dinah Alcott, send a team to stop the danger but they were too late.
Thus, a six year old Taylor Hebert clone with white hair and no real memories was born!
