Summary
'There was no formal arrangement, nothing that could easily be defined as any recognizable brand of relationship. But Jack learned in the army that sometimes you needed someone to hold. To remind you that you’re human. That there’s someone who cares. Not that either of them would say anything mushy like that. It was basically a business transaction. Sleep in each other’s beds a couple nights a week and in exchange make it to the following week without going off the deep end. Business.'
...
Dr. Abbot starts the day on the edge of the roof, and ends it talking his friend off the same ledge. In the process, he reflects on their strange relationship.
...
Written during season one, as a result some elements are canon divergent.

About Being Gay by A_Candle_For_Sherlock

Summary
From a Tumblr headcanon by @atikiology! "I live for the day Rosie learns what the word 'gay' means and she proceeds to ask John, 'Dad, is Sherlock gay?' And John goes into this endless spluttering explanation about how Sherlock is a very complicated person and we just don’t know. We can’t be sure. And the next time they’re over at 221B Rosie looks up from Sherlock’s picture book about poisonous plants, gives Sherlock a look and asks, 'Are you gay, Sherlock?' and Sherlock, without missing a beat, just says 'Yes,' and continues drinking his tea, and Rosie says 'Ah,' and goes back to her plant book, and John nearly doubles over in the corner."

Ethan glanced over at Benji, frowning a bit as Benji shook out his hands. It was at least the third time that he’d done that in the last hour, not that Ethan was counting.

Proverbs 6:16-19
16 There are six things the Lord hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.Hatred is a mortal sin that only confession can absolve. Jud Duplenticy is guilty.

Summary
His first mistake is not picking up the phone.
In Jud’s defense, it’s been a long fucking day. And not one that he’s keen to recount.
He’s kept the damn thing turned off for most of the day. As a rule, he stays fairly available on Sundays, but—well, extenuating circumstances call for extreme reactions. Thankfully, he had kept enough of his head after Mass to force a shutdown instead of what he wanted to do, which was to hurl it against the wall and watch it shatter into a million tiny pieces.
Night is young, though.
Or: A Wicks truther comes after Jud in the middle of Mass. He's fine. Benoit disagrees.

Summary
They aren’t his family, not in the traditional sense. But the idea that they might be, that they could be, unsettles him more than he wants to admit. It’s the same quiet dread that hit him when Collins said he had helped raise Amy. He doesn’t know why exactly. Maybe because imagining them as a family implies imagining him and Jack as something. And that’s just absurd, right?
Or: Robby has been a quiet constant in the lives of Abbot and his daughter, filling a space that was never clearly named. As they drift into their fifties, he begins to recognize that his feelings for Jack may have deepened into something real and perhaps impossible. Now he’s left wondering if this almost-family could ever truly be his.

Summary
It didn't take Robby (or really, any of the doctors in the ED) long to figure out Langdon's diagnosis, even though he'd never said anything about it. It was pretty obvious, to be honest, and he didn't really care if they knew. Their reactions, however, he was more worried about.
OR: Five times Langdon discusses (or is forced to discuss, in certain situations) his ADHD with a coworker

Trinity recognized something of herself in Dennis. She wanted to reach out and touch it.
-
Santos and Whitaker have been living together for a month and finally have some proper downtime together. When Trinity asks Dennis about his time being homeless, something in his answer catches her off guard. Cue some introspection and vulnerability Dennis (and Trinity) had not prepared for.
TL;DR: Codependent roommates trauma bond over shitty hook-ups, ft. pasta, bad TV, and hugs.
Effectively a standalone story, but it takes place about a month after the events part one (Further to Fly)

Summary
When Dennis leans over a man brought in for drunkenness, shaking his shoulder and, when that gets no response, moving to a sternal rub, he is completely blindsided by the elbow which connects with his brow bone, knocking him to the floor in an undignified heap and causing him to glance his head off the arm of a plastic chair on the way down. And Jack, God help him, is still in the corridor struggling with a pair of gloves.

Dennis gets punched by a patient. Jack helps out as best he can in the aftermath.

Summary
Jack Abbot stops breathing at exactly 8:52pm.
“Oh my God,” he hears someone exclaim, but he couldn’t tell you who.
As he takes in the figure on the gurney being wheeled into the ER, the IV in his arm, the blood in his hair, and the air being forced into his lungs every three seconds, Jack’s whole chest seizes up.
“It’s Doctor Robby,” One of the paramedics exclaims, like Jack can’t recognise him. Like they hadn’t kissed each other goodbye on the roof less than two hours ago.

Summary
“I know, I know, I’m sure he’d be perfectly polite about it. Which is why I’d rather take this to my grave, preferably along with this conversation.” Robby gave her a flat-lipped smile.
“A match made in heaven.” Dana grumbled under her breath, just loud enough for Robby not to miss a single word. She knew better than to try and persuade someone as stubborn as Abbot — at least she knew better now, after actually trying it on three separate occasions. It was his turn.
Robby gave her an inquisitive look, finally, finally seeming to latch onto some of what she has been throwing at him.
On one hand, Dana knew it wasn’t really her secret to tell. On the other hand, was it really a secret when everyone else already knew?
Fuck it.Or
Dana had it with Robby’s pining and decides to take matters into her own hands.

Summary
“Come on, kid,” someone says, rubbing his sternum with bruising fingers. Dennis desperately tries to swat the hands away, the bone already sensitive from the weight of the patient from just moments ago. “Open your eyes, Whitaker, come on. Look at me. Open your eyes.”
He twitches, his limbs flexing in odd and tight angles as he tries to expel the memory of the pain. He tries to speak, not to answer the question but to ask for help, help, anyone, anyone at all, his mom or one his brothers or the youth pastor who gives him bandages when no one is looking, just, God, please, please—
The best Dennis can manage is a deep gurgle from his throat.
*
When he gets seriously injured after an altercation with a patient, Dennis is forced to reveal parts of himself he would rather keep hidden.
