"That's so funny, you're so funny, I am clearly hearing things," he said, dismissing the doctor's words.

Summary
Wei Wuxian presents as an omega just over a month after they arrive for the Cloud Recesses lectures.
The thing is... no one expected him to actually be an omega, and his presentation is, in a word, messy. Feral omegas aren't natural, not as far as those in power are concerned, and they certainly aren't meant to cultivate alongside alphas and betas.
They definitely aren't supposed to form a fractured bond with an alpha like Lan Wangji, who does not handle the situation well in the moment, and is then forced to watch the aftermath his actions cause. Meanwhile, Wei Wuxian struggles to come to terms with what it means to be an omega, and how it feels to be rejected by the only person your soul has ever cried out for.
Spoiler alert: It's not fucking great

When the initial investigation concludes and his superiors tell him to continue it in secret, he follows the advice of a friend to pretend that he is wooing this dangerous necromancer as a reason to keep visiting without raising his suspicion. This may or may not turn into genuine wooing, and said necromancer may or may not be quite amenable to this (lol of course he is), as is the cultivator.

What if Lan Wanji goes over the cliff with Wei Wuxian? What if Wei Wuxian and Lan Wanji acknowledged their "marriage" ages ago and were very committed to each other before shit hit the fan? What if they leave the cultivation world and start a family of their own and become immortal (sort of)?
Well that's what happens in this one! Until one fateful day when the heads of the cultivation world come to realize that these two lovebirds have been alive this entire time! And wait Jiang Yanli and peacock survived? Anyways, this is set about 16 years after Wei Wuxian yeets himself off a cliff (and Lan Wanji following).

He claimed that he woke up, and Wei Wuxian was gone, not a single trace of him in the space they had found to sleep in.
Immediately, others were giving Jiang Wanyin their condolences for having such a disobedient disciple, for Wei Wuxian fleeing in the night after everything he had caused, leaving the aftermath to be faced alone by Jiang Wanyin.
Lan Wangji had never believed such a story.

“How about this? Am I still nice to look at, Er-Gege? Do I look cute?” Wei Wuxian asked, sugary and nasally, as he twirled the end of one pigtail around his finger and batted his eyelashes.
The other didn’t miss a beat.
“Mn. Very cute,” Lan Wangji confirmed, not seeming flustered at all.
Wei Wuxian was starting to despair.
(Or: Lan Wangji discovers a method to find out if a flirtatious guy is being serious or just playing and decides to test it on Wei Wuxian. The method? Flirting back.)

Wei Ying had deployed his 100% success rate guaranteed weapons and Lan Zhan had gotten the I Am Going to Rip Your Clothes Off gleam in his eyes when Jingyi’s irritating shriek cut through the air. Wei Wuxian, not to be deterred from his meticulously crafted plans, ignored it and coyly batted his lashes, “Husband, you’ve sorely neglected your marital duties towards this one since we left Cloud Recesses.” Lan Zhan’s momentary indecision vanished and he prowled forward another inch when Jin Ling’s even more irritating shriek cut through the air. Wei Ying arched his back some more. Lan Zhan, smart man that he is, said (with gravity), “It will be good learning for the disciples to handle such crises on their own”, as he continued his predatory advance on his helpless Wei Ying. But then, “Hanguang-Jun, Senior Wei, we would really appreciate some help down here”, came Sizhui’s mildly strained voice. Well. Atleast he could drop his uncomfortably arched back now, thought Wei Ying uncharitably.
