Louis knew this night was coming. He had welcomed Lestat back into their home and it was only a matter of time before he would ask to be let into his coffin as well.
He puts it off for as much as he can, offering a small, sheepish smile along with an apology. It has worked well enough the past few weeks, but as Louis holds the lid to his coffin, preparing to tell Lestat how exhausted he is to entertain sex, Lestat cuts him off.

The townhouse at Rue Royale was silent as the grave when Lestat came home late one evening, flushed and sated from his second kill of the night. He heard nothing as he stepped inside, not the crackle of a flame in the fireplace nor the soft turning of a page as Louis read the night away, as he was often wont to do.
The silence unnerved Lestat. Something about it just didn’t sit right.
“Louis?” he called from the door, but there was no answer.

Not quite fear, not anymore, but something else heady. “Do you want to write another book, Daniel?”
“Louis wanted that,” Daniel explained, trying to keep his heart from going insane from the proximity and failing miserably. “I just want to know the man who claims he loves me.”
