Summary
Just as Will steps inside the Brooklyn Art Museum, the dead begin to rise.
Attempting to escape, Will finds Francis Dolarhyde, who has broken his leg while evading the zombies. Given the circumstances, it takes Will some time to clock him as the Red Dragon, but Dolarhyde knows exactly who Will Graham is.
They escape in Dolarhyde’s van and set out to find their loved ones, heading first for Molly’s home and then Reba’s.
Meanwhile, Hannibal is safe from the walking dead inside his glass cage; they can't get in but neither can he get out, and with all the BSHCI staff either dead or fled he is faced with the prospect of slow starvation.
All his hopes hinge on Will coming to see him again, but as the hordes of undead grow and civilization falls, road travel becomes increasingly more difficult, and Will doesn't know if he will make it there in time.

Three perfectly carved figures tower above him. The figures seem happy together, with laughter frozen on all of their faces. Each god has its own symbol of who they are. The god of music sits strumming a small guitar. Large wings rest on the angle of death's back. A large sword sits over the blood god's shoulder. The godly family is said to be kind to those who believe, to those who worship.
They don’t seem to be kind to Tommy.

He wasn’t proud of the title he had or the name they’d called him, honestly he didn’t think he deserved it. Tommy never had an evil plan, or a secret lair, or any of the cool things villains had. All he had was a shitty apartment and the clothes on his back, and a desire for more.
He couldn’t be a civilian, and he certainly wouldn’t be a hero, so he did what he had to do.
At fifteen years old, Red Death killed the top heroes in L’Manburg, and Tommy became a villain.

Even if he has to hide the fact that he's a God from them. And then he has to hide the fact that he's a vigilante from the heroes who he now works for and have taken an interest in him. Tommy was just trying to get away from the vanguard of murder robots. He did not mean to fall from the sky and break most of his equipment (including his bones). And now he's been kidnapped/adopted by a beanpole, a wingman, and a pig. Help.
Phil and Ranboo are just chillin' in Techno's house when a tiny feral version of Tommy falls from the sky. Which shouldn't be possible because, according to Ranboo, Tommy died in prison. He's got weird armor, weirder weapons, he just tried to stab Phil, and- oh, okay, he blasted a hole in the wall. Lovely.
None of these people know what they're doing, and the child just brings more angst, fluff, and shenanigans than anyone thinks is possible while also kickstarting a mass emotional healing arc that no one knew they needed.
OR
Dystopian resistance sci-fi Tommy falls through a portal and gets adopted by the Syndicate. (And yes it's adoption, because Phil.)
