Golden Cheese froze mid-step, and carefully she finally turned her head, just enough for White Lily to catch her profile; the gold of her skin catching the dim candlelight like burnished metal, and her eyes, when they met White Lily’s, were unflinching.
She felt the familiar jolt, that moment of breathlessness in her chest. Golden Cheese’s face was a map she had studied once too many times, she wasn’t quite sure when it had begun or if she ever stopped, but even now, with the chasm of stretching wider, her eyes moved without her willing it to, tracing the graceful slope of Golden Cheese’s neck, the slight downturn of her mouth, and the lines at the edges of her eyes that deepened when she was tired or resolute.
“Y-you should rest here, too…” White Lily suggested, hands knotting tightly together at her waist, as though that would keep them from reaching out on their own. “It’s late, and—”
“Don’t.
Don’t think you can simply walk back into our lives and expect everything to be the same. Not with me. Not with my kingdom. You’ve done enough.”

Purple eyes pierced Pure Vanilla’s very being.
His heart hammered at the enraged man before him. His dark complexion, his dark hair down to his shoulders, the dark sky and sea. Pure Vanilla’s staff had to slowly adjust to take in the hardened lines, square jaw, broad yet sharp nose, the rise and fall of broad shoulders due to ragged breaths, the twitch of his brows. A thick white streak came loose and trickled down his face.
His eyes combed over Pure Vanilla as well. A brief calm, possibly hesitation, crossed his face.
————————Pure Vanilla meets Dark Cacao when the Black and White Dragons still ruled the skies and the heroes were not all united. They grow closer.

It’s quaint, in a nauseating sort of way. Polished floors glint from the gleaming honeycomb chandeliers overhead, make him squint. A few vases sprinkled here and there, filling the room with a sickeningly sweet scent – even a waffle-cone headrest framing the silken sheets of a neatly-tucked bed. Outside, the golden sun gleams, the gentle rays of light spilling past curtains that waver in the afternoon breeze.
It's meant to be beautiful. Luxurious. Welcoming.
With one sweep of his cane, Shadow Milk tears it apart.

Miles didn’t know what to think about Hobie, because in the end it always circled back to one question. What the hell were they?
Something raw and complicated, left without a name or label. Without ties. There was something there, something in long nights on high-rise buildings and moments spent kissing Hobie breathless on his creaky dorm mattress. Was he the only one who got to have Hobie like that? Why, after everything he’d done, was this something that scared him? Miles had done some outrageous things for his family, carved the Prowler into infamy among the shadiest of New York’s worst, but the idea of asking Hobie if they were exclusive scared him out of his goddamn mind.
The very idea made him feel like an idiot, but part of Miles feared that it just wouldn’t be cool of him to ask.
