“Well, so, since I think you’re the best person in existence, the thought that you love me, that’s pretty special”, Charles tries to explain. “And that makes me feel pretty special. That you could love me.”
Edwin stays silent for a while, but he doesn’t look away, seemingly figuring something out, making a decision, or a third thing somewhere in between.
“That makes sense”, he eventually says, speaking slowly, almost like he is still thinking about it. “In that case, I shall endeavour to tell you more often.”
Edwin tells Charles he loves him again and again, until Charles can say it back.

Summary
Since they'd fallen out of hell, the Night Nurse slamming the door on the awful baby doll demon behind them, Charles had been itching to touch Edwin. And it wasn't like his usual touch-oriented personality just wishing to have some sort of contact. He could control that easily enough after all this time.
No, this was something different.
This felt like a desperation. A need to be in Edwin's personal space, to keep his hands on him. He wanted to wrap his best friend in a hug and never let go, he wanted to sit as close as possible as they heard a new case. He wanted to take Niko’s place as she grabbed Edwin's hand to drag him to watch another one of her shows. He wanted to tuck Edwin against him as they sat on the couch. He would wrap an arm around Crystal and wish it was Edwin, who was merely across the room.

After Hell, Charles is terrified of letting Edwin out of his reach for fear that he might get taken away again. He is, of course, being very subtle in his attempts to keep Edwin close.

Summary
After Port Townsend, Edwin tries to handle not only the fallout from his unrequited love confession, but also the inconvenient longing the Cat King has evoked in him. When Charles kisses him out of the blue, it sends them spiralling down a confusing path of lust and self-discovery.

One of their first cases back had been fairly easy. A man had owned a local toy shop and passed away. Nothing nefarious, the man just had a heart attack in his home. The shop was scheduled to be torn down, along with everything in it, and the owner had requested that the few personal items left in the building be retrieved for his daughter. He’d offered to pay and said the teens could take whatever they wanted from the stock.

“Oh, thank Merlin.” James blurts out and it takes a couple of seconds for him to register he’s done it. “In the sense that…”
The first to laugh is Lily. She just snorts right next to him and doubles over with a hysterical laugh. Remus accompanies from behind Sirius, then Marlene, then everybody is cackling except for James, Regulus and Sirius.
“Do go on.” Sirius prompts, raising his eyebrows. “I’m listening.”
Or: james accidentally says something he shouldn’t have and ends up in 7 minutes in heaven with regulus.

It off started innocent enough. Sitting in the Gryffindor common room, fire whiskey warming in his stomach. There had been a party celebrating a quidditch win, not even that big of a match but nothing stops the Gryffindors from finding a reason to party. By now the party had long since drawn down. Students mostly gone to bed, some stragglers in odd corners passed out. And then them. This odd rag tag group sat in the prime spot in front of the fire. And that’s when Regulus hears it.
“I’d definitely kiss a homie.”
James was sprawled on the couch, his head on Marlene’s lap and his legs laid over Peter’s. Regulus had been previously drifting, in a state of content. But that one sentence draws his attention back to the room.

A beat or two later Remus’ own bed curtains are drawn, slowly, quietly. He turns around with wide eyes, catching a silhouette before it climbs into the bed and pulls the curtains closed again.
“Move over.”
Remus is too stunned to do anything but scoot back until he almost falls off the other side of the bed. Sirius fumbles in the dark for a moment, then crawls under the thick blanket and rests his head on one corner of Remus’ pillow. Remus keeps staring, and once his eyes get used to the dark again he can see Sirius staring right back.

Summary
Remus had never had a name for it, not until Sirius gave him one. The constant bombardment on his senses would cause his brain to go into overdrive, everything and anything becoming too much to bear. Sirius had called them panic attacks. Remus just thought it was the Wolf reminding him he'd never be normal. Name or not, after one night became too much, Sirius began taking notice of every time Remus would begin to slip and spiral, anchoring him in a way Remus hadn't even known was possible. He was grateful for the help, even if it was making him realize things he'd never noticed about the other boy. Mainly, his own feelings towards him.
Or
Sirius begins to help Remus through panic attacks and Remus realizes his elevated heart rate is not because of his anxiety.

Horrible truths are discovered, and in the end, Sirius could never really let go of caring for Regulus, even when he tried so hard to.

That makes Regulus stop, his hands pausing on James’ shoulders.
“You… wanted me?” Regulus breathes, feeling like all the air he gained has been forcefully taken from his body once again.
