Doc crossed his arms over his chest. Every day. Every day he regretted ever becoming friends with the mutt next to him. He remembered the day they had voted on inviting him to join Hermitcraft. Doc should have voted no.
Voting yes was actually probably the best decision he’d ever made, but he sure as hell wasn’t going to let Ren know that.
or, ren knows doc better than doc would like to admit, and he knows one does not disappear for a month and then get a pet ender dragon when they're doing great mentally.

Summary
It wasn’t that Doc didn’t like people. It was that he didn’t like a large amount of people. Especially when he wasn’t prepared for it.
To put it simply; he liked people in moderation.
So, although the idea of a starter village this season sounded absolutely spectacular, it also sounded absolutely horrible. He would live with it though. Doc liked the Hermits, and it's not like he had to worry about anything getting in the way. Or him doing anything he'd regret. Anything like that wasn't a possibility.

Obviously, Doc knew that numbers on an alarm clock couldn't glare at him. Couldn't glare at all even. But it made him feel better if he personified the things in the room. It gave him something to think about instead of his thoughts and gave him something to be mad at.

Summary
Ren slumped down against a tree. He had been looking for shelter for hours. With barely any food and barely any water, he had resorted to leaving his old makeshift house to find supplies. Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly, all of the local towns and shops had been ransacked and he was left with only a few oat bars and some stale tasting water.
He didn’t like doing this, but this is what you get with living during the apocalypse. And surviving this long.

Summary
“Easy now,” says Doc. The casual tone of his voice is given lie by how tense his flesh-and-blood shoulder is, by the creases at the corner of his eyes. To anyone else, he might look relaxed, but Ren knows him better. “That is delicate, in that bit. If you make those wires touch, we will be in an even worse situation than we are now.”
Given Doc currently has a fully non-functional arm that’s sending feedback loops of pain up into his neck and down his spine every several hundred ticks or so, that’s a pretty big claim. Hard to see how the situation could get any worse than that, in Ren’s opinion.
(Doc has an issue with his arm, and chooses Ren to help him fix it. Ren learns how big of an honour that is.)

Summary
Doc would never have considered himself a relatively profound friend of Ren’s. They were friends, for certain, but in the same way Doc would consider himself a friend of Joe’s or a friend of Scar’s. They interact. They spend time together. They sometimes collaborate on builds.
And, on occasion, Doc supposes that friendship extends to pulling the man from lava and attempting to salvage what bits of him have been destroyed and mangled from a near disastrous end of a season.
But, really, he should know the man better. He should have some sense of who Ren is, of what he needs, what he does, yet the man sat before him… He’s not certain it’s Ren at all.
And Doc doesn’t know enough to explain why…

He thinks people might sort of like the moon, too, but he sleeps through every night, so he doesn’t really know.
