Duke can feel himself becoming awkward, even as he’s more caught up with the creepiness that lies in the teen’s dead-eyed green stare.
Seriously. The guy looks dead. Sure, he’s standing and he’s breathing, but even his eye movements look slow, his skin is pale like he’s cold despite it being late spring, and his grip on his backpack straps looks more habitual than anything.
Thank god, Duke thinks, that someone got him to the manor before someone took advantage of him.

And yet here he was, glittery Sharpie in hand, waiting to sign Lucy’s copy of Altea.
Lance opened his mouth to say something arguably rude and not appropriate for their current audience. Until he remembered that he himself had either watched or participated in these activities and was now holding a four-year-old containing his DNA. So Lance didn’t have much of a leg to stand on either."
When Lance runs into his ex-boyfriend at a children’s book signing, he not only finds out that Keith Kogane ages like fine wine, but he also apparently wrote his daughter’s favorite book. As Keith lingers in town, Lance frantically tries to keep his daughter from realizing that the writer is not only a person from Lance’s past, but a character in her bedtime stories as well.

There is a bit of a thrill to doing something like that. Catching someone off guard and making them blush. He finds himself thoroughly pleased with this play of romance. All the world’s a stage, he thinks. Is it cruel to toy with Amamiya this way? Perhaps. On the other hand he’s having too much fun to just stop. He feels his own heart race from the adrenaline.
“Actually, are you free tomorrow? There’s this little cafè I’ve been meaning to try…” He tries to keep slightly aloof, but he finds it hard to not sound excited. “Would you like to accompany me?”

But of course, he isn't a superhero, he's just a sidekick to this asshole hero, the Red Baron, who won't give him the time of day. All he needs is just one chance to prove to everyone that he is more than just a pretty face in a costume.
At least his boyfriend, Lotor, treats him like he's special, even without knowing the truth about him and his abilities. Lance isn't sure if he can ever tell him, but as long as they love each other, that shouldn't matter. Nothing can ever come between them.
