Annnnd there’s really no doubting it now.
Clearly those vivid dreams of war, imprisonment and eleven years of growing up is not the dream Satoru had thought it to be since waking up in the infirmary as a seventeen-year-old student, way back before the source of all his problems defected from Jujutsu society.

Gojo was just in the middle of responding to something when he heard a voice from behind him, it was deep and velvety with a light musical tone to it, “Okay children, put your shoes on and head on outside.”
His entire body stiffened.
He gripped his phone with enough pressure that he felt it would break, and pressed his back into the side of the building, hiding instinctively.
Why was he here?
Finally Gojo’s eyes found their target: there he was, squatting in front of a crying child, comforting them. He looked bigger than before– of course he did, it’d been over 7 years. He wore his long black hair loose now, with a simple knot holding a few strands back. Gojo’s eyes ate up the sight of the man he hadn’t seen in years.

Almost, Megumi wonders, as if he knows them.

In lieu of answering, he asks, “What’s your name?”
The girl scowls. “Maki.”
“Maki,” he repeats, and it’s like a missing piece of his soul falls back into place. The record of his life before he fought the Six-Eyes brat is a long, impossibly white scroll of nothing -- but written on it in faint letters is the name of a child, a child with a delicate name that brushed the heavens, spun a prayer into letters; a name that began with an M, and it ended in i, too.
“Maki,” he says again. “I think you’re my daughter.”

“Satoru?” The word rings, fuzzy in his ears as it whines like tinnitus, familiar and heart stopping.
‘I’m dead.’ He can’t even hear his own thoughts over the loudness of the world, staggering where he stands, eyes still fixated on the sky, on the sun. ‘I’m dead, I died, I felt my heart stop, this can’t be, it can’t-’
“Hey,” it comes again, a little more urgent than before, a little closer, another hammer to his ears and all the noise shrieking behind his eyes. He recoils hard enough to go stumbling as a hand reaches for him, covered in flesh rather than empty bone, tan and recognizable. Unbelievable.
There’s something wet trickling from his nose. Bile stings on the back of his tongue. The words dissolve into the rest of the white noise as he stares up at the blue of the sky, and tries to remember if he’d ever had a hallucination as bright as this.
‘I have to be dead,’ he thinks. Somehow, he isn’t.
Or: Gojo Satoru goes back in time. He makes a couple of changes for the better.

Life at twenty wasn’t quite what Satoru had imagined it would be, but it went on. Satoru nearly accepted this new reality, falling into a steady, dull schedule. The monotony that he would have once despised became his safe haven, routine keeping him sane and allowing him to efficiently avoid others. Yaga said he had mellowed—Shoko said he was depressed.
So when life brought him a tiny, five-year old, fluffy-haired kid who couldn't talk, honeyed eyes starting up at him expectantly, Satoru figured that having his homicidal ex-best friend, a sorcerer-turned-corporate worker, and an alcoholic doctor help him would be his best bet.
Turns out, Satoru might be screwed.

“I was stupid,” the kid mutters eventually, voice dripping dark with anger. “I broke a rule.”
Shouta can’t tell if the anger he hears in the teenager’s tone is self-directed or if it is directed at his so-called guardians. He has a worrying feeling that it is the former. “And then what?” He digs, frustrated on the teenager’s behalf. “They responded by muzzling you?”
Or:
Aizawa runs across his student while outside on night patrol. Naturally, he is easily very curious about the reason why the boy is outside so late, and why the kid is refusing to respond to him.
The answer, however, is harder to swallow.
