“Lu Guang, this is so fucked up.”
“I know,” he says, swallowing the bile that hits the back of his throat, clinging to what little composure he’s managed to maintain.
“You’re such a hypocrite.”
“I know.” He's known that for ages. Still, hearing it from Cheng Xiaoshi doesn’t hurt any less. ”I’m so sorry.”
“You… you can't do it again, ok? Even if I die. You can't go back to try to change things.”
Over the years, Lu Guang tries again and again to save Cheng Xiaoshi, ultimately finding that even when he gets everything right, he can't beat fate. Over time, he begins to let go, revisiting the memory of Cheng Xiaoshi through photographs as he attempts to learn how to live a life without him

this fucking fic - 3
me - 0yeah holy shit I cried 3 times throughout reading this. I cannot express how painful that angst was, the author executed this BEAUTIFULLY. made it so much worse that lapse started playing while I read the last bit here at the end. I HATEEE that the ending was left open but I genuinely do think lg dives back regardless of everything. and I don’t blame him AT ALL!!!!!! guilt, yup it will be suffocating but still, getting to relive everything is lowkey better than the angst of lg trying to live a sad miserable life alone. and I stand by that don’t care
anyways this was brutal pls like actually heed the excessive warnings from the author and lowkey stop after part one- stay in the dark, stay happy
