Mr. Terrific assured Lois in no uncertain terms that Clark was going to survive. That his healing was well underway, that the feverish confusion was normal, that with rest and relaxation, he would be fine.
But that was an hour ago. That was Clark-who-couldn’t-stand-up, sure, but he was still aware. Since then, his speech has deteriorated to confused muttering and his head has started lolling over like he can’t focus enough to keep it straight.
Lois glances over her shoulder again—never mind that she’s hurtling a hundred miles an hour through the air—she needs to see for herself that Clark is still alive. His swollen eyes are drifting shut again.
She just doesn’t believe he’s supposed to look like this.

Life without Superman had been normal, mundane even. She could make her peace with that. But life without Clark Kent was something else entirely, a reality she had no wish to return to even if a not-insignificant part of her whispered that it would be easier. Maybe it would, but it would also be missing her best friend. The first person she wanted to tell about anything big in her life, the only coworker she'd ever shared a byline with, the warm light she looked forward to at the beginning of every day at the Planet and at the end of every day at home.
She didn't remember falling asleep. The last thing she heard was the fall of rain on the bedroom window, and the soft whine of a dog at the door.
…After escaping from Lex Luthor's pocket dimension with an injured Superman, Lois Lane has nowhere to go but Smallville, Kansas. Along the way, she starts to see the man of steel in a new light and meets the people that made Clark into the man he is.

Summary
Jayce must catch it before Viktor does because he’s no more than halfway to the ground before Jayce slips his arms under Viktor’s and lets him down easy, the motion of collapsing only worsening his pain. He wants to push away from Jayce and tell him off, but he’s comfortingly warm, and the blackness catches up to Viktor before he’s fully on the ground.
Or: As a blizzard passes through Piltover, Viktor catches a cold and has a flare-up in his leg after overworking himself. Luckily, Jayce's favorite thing to do is take care of others.

The nurse raised a brow, glancing back at her clipboard. “No, I’m asking for Viktor.”
He blinked. “Oh.”Or Jayce schedules a doctor appointment for Viktor, and Viktor has a crisis about it.

After a secretive trip to the Undercity goes terribly wrong, Viktor is left trying to piece himself together and drag himself back home. And it was nothing new. Nothing so terribly unusual.
But why does home look and sound so much like the lab...?
I.e., Instead of locating Singed, Viktor is attacked during his initial trip to the Undercity. Confused, exhausted, and in pain, he accidentally goes back to the lab instead of his own room, where his partner just so happens to be pulling an all-nighter...
