Summary
In the year 2037, Japan is closed off from the rest of the world as it deals with a civil war between the ruthless Government and the Free People. The Government builds a time machine to send an assassin back to the year 2012 to kill the leader of the Free People when he's still young and vulnerable. Luckily the other side builds their own time machine and sends back 18 year-old Kuroo Tetsurou to find and protect their leader: Sawamura Daichi.

His body felt heavy and sore, but his cozy bed hugged him just right, and with his pleasant housemates quietly settling in around him, he was nearly lost to sleep.
Then something tapped him on the nose. It was soft and slightly tickled, so Daichi just scrunched up his face and rubbed it on his pillow without opening his eyes. The tap came a bit harder, just enough for his eyes to crack open reluctantly. Right in front of his face was the face of a black cat, cocking his head at him with a grin that oozed trouble.

Summary
Kuroo licked his lips as he stared at the sidewalk, nervously weaving through the crowds of the shopping district. The streetlamps were warming in the cool evening air, but he saw nothing as his mind ran away with him, his heartbeat following suit. There was no reason to feel nervous, but the silly little box in his pocket his fingers kept fiddling with had a way of keeping him on edge. He stopped as he drew near to their meeting place, glancing up for the first time to see Daichi was already waiting for him. Now he couldn’t help but notice the streetlamps coming on, casting Daichi in a soft glow as his gaze drifted around the street, looking every bit of a hero from a romantic novel in his suit and tie stretching over his muscular frame. Daichi hated wearing it but had to for his work. Kuroo loved it and made a point of telling him so just to see the light pink flush across Daichi’s cheeks.

Summary
The old songs tell of how the gods created soul animals in order that people could find true love. There are many different kinds; each creature representing the connection between soulmates. So it's something of a bittersweet moment when Daichi meets his soul animal for the first time, and realises what fate has in store for him. For while many of the greatest love stories feature soulmates united by the pegasus, so do almost all the great tragedies.
The best thing then, Daichi reasons, is not to worry about love at all.

Daichi was thinking of joining him when he spotted a figure slinking through the crowd. It was hard for anyone to miss the lanky man with his spray of wild black hair, and it was definitely hard for Daichi to miss the way his body curved sensually back and forth to the music. He was wearing a sharp black suit that hugged his lithe body well enough to make Daichi’s mouth water. Suddenly it felt like someone had turned the temperature up in the room to volcanic proportions.
