His tone was deep and serious and Rey squeezed his thick fingers, wishing she knew the right words to say, or how a girl was supposed to respond to (what was, she was ready to admit) a very cute guy who was maybe sort of flirting with her. She didn’t understand the rules to flirting, no one had ever given her a copy of the book or she was defective somehow, missing some crucial piece that would make this easier.
“I’m really not all that interesting,” she warned him in a breathless rush, needing him to know that he was wasting his opportunity to bang his way through a sorority chapter in one night--or whatever frat bros did at these things--he was seriously setting himself up for disappointment. “...but I guess you can try.”
“I won’t just try,” he wriggled his brows suggestively. “I play center.”
He chuckled when she stared blandly in response as if his player position explained anything.
“You won’t find a more determined bastard on the ice. I don’t try, sweetheart, I do.”

God, this guy pissed her off, always strutting about like he owned the whole damned condominium, but the goo-goo baby voice was an indignity too far. She slunk back when he squatted down to set the bin upright, still growling as he lingered in that position.
“Did you run away from home, buddy?”
Damn him and his giant dick bulge…just hanging there directly in her line of sight. She could scent clean linens and the salty hint of sweat on his skin, and it was infuriating how nice it smelled. Like warmth and safety, the perfect protector for her pups--nope. She was absolutely not going there.

Summary
Raided, captured, and brought to a foreign land, Rey finds herself being handed over as a bed maid to a Viking called Kylo Ren who prefers isolation from the village below, and apparently speaks her native tongue. However, instead of being used in the way she thinks she will, Kylo puts her to work around the house alongside him and takes it upon himself to teach her their ways. What starts as a spiteful entrapment slowly turns into a mutual friendship, and an even greater romance forbidden from happening.

[The scar] crept up from under his collar along his neck, and her eyes traced the length of it. The part that disappeared under the thick, dark waves covering his right eye was still stitched closed with fresh black sutures twisting deep into his skin. He must have been split open to the bone.
Whatever happened had hurt, in more ways than one, and that hurt was reflected now in the way his lovely mouth dropped open in fear and how horror darkened the one eye fixated on Rey’s face.
