Radicado en un bosque sin contacto humano más allá de la ocasional y breve visita del cazador de turno enviado a asesinarlo, Roier estaba resignado al hecho de que viviría en esa monotonía frustrante por el resto de sus días; eso hasta que recibe la visita de un hombre llamado Cellbit, quien se presenta a sí mismo como un demonólogo y le pide ayuda para salvar a su joven protegido. No se imaginaba que el momento de vulnerabilidad emocional que lo llevo a acudir al rescate del pequeño demonio provocaría que terminará involucrado en una conspiración masiva que involucraba tanto al mundo humano como demoniaco, todo junto al humano embustero que lo arrastró al viaje en primer lugar. Se indignaría, pero a su casi siglo de vida ya había aprendido a no esperar absolutamente nada bueno de su fortuna.

He bites into yet another gapple, golden specks appearing in his pupils as its magic floods his body. Would my blood turn to gold if I ate enough of those? he wonders in passing.
(This night is void of stars, like every code attack-induced darkness. But they still shine on the warrior's dark green skin, white and silver star-shaped dots on his face and arms, like freckles. People didn’t call him Étoiles for no reason, after all.)
