Summary
In the wake of Marc Antony and Cleopatra's defeat, the last member of Rome's Second Triumvirate and adopted son of the late Gaius Julius Caesar, Octavian Caesar, embarks on a completely different mission: to destroy the alleged son of his father and conquer the land of Egypt.
But as this supposed 'brotherhood' goes on, Octavian realizes there is much more to this 'Caesarion' than meets the eye. And better yet, the great Imperator of Rome begins to wonder if the things he supposedly knows were ever true at all...

| Julia hated it. She just hated all of it. The mocking jokes, the olive throwing, the sudden screams punctuated by her father when things don’t go his way. This was exactly what she wanted to avoid, why she hides in her room during dinner and doesn't leave until afterwards. Julia scoffed at the answer, her dark eyebrows furrowing as she looked to the side of the lined-up pillars following their footsteps. “Of course he doesn’t…The ‘great Emperor’ doesn’t seem to remember anything besides his delusions nowadays.”
Callistus blinked twice at the hidden hostility, but as soon as it seemed like something out of the ordinary had crossed his mind, his expression returned to that same dead-cold stare.
“Your father has not been…feeling well these past couple of weeks.” The palace advisor had admitted hesitantly, a sudden tightness in his voice that originally wasn’t there before.
Julia gazed upon him, unimpressed by his answer.
“Father’s been unwell since I was nine.”
“Well, consider him even more unwell tonight. I suggest you tread carefully when you speak to him.” |
