So what if he notices Duncan flinching at the slightest touch or sudden noise? Or Gwen's blatant antisocial-ness? Or Ezekiel being weirdly casual about his objectively shitty homelife? Surely it doesn't mean anything.
And so what if Lindsey's clumsiness seemed too extreme to be normal? Or Izzy seems to care too little about her own health and safety? Or Cody seems to be constantly covering his ears wherever he goes? It's probably nothing.
And so what if Chris finds Owen's endless enthusiasm a bit charming? And the happy glint Harold gets in his eyes when Chris lets him ramble without interrupting makes listening to him just a little worth it? And the rare genuine smile Noah cracks when Chris not so discreetly hints towards a spot on the island he can read and no one would bother him makes Chris's ice cold heart thaw just a little?
And so what if suddenly all the questionable and dangerous stuff he agreed to enact upon these children make him feel a bit nauseous when just weeks prior he was excited about hosting such an insane show?
God….Chris was doomed.

And he’s been painting a lot more. A lot more if you compare it to his usual basis. He loves the rainbow, it’s his favorite color. Anyone in town knows this, just ask and you’ll get the same answer. But he’s been favoring another color as of late.
Green.
He decided to go outside to get some fresh air and paint while he realized this epiphany. He never particularly had strong feelings about the color, but everytime he saw something green, he had a sense of longing. The bushes, the trees, the grass, hell, every time he saw Howdy himself he remembered the distinct word that was ingrained into his brain at this point.
Green. Again, the feeling like he needs to remember always comes back.
But he can’t.

Stone gave the two of them his best death glare. The blond boy looked obnoxiously happy, though he seemed concerned at the moment, he had that sort of look. The girl looked like she had rabies. They both looked like they could and would stab someone. He needed them to think he was dangerous too, think he knew how to fight.
He must not have done very well, because the short boy came closer. It was probably the fact that he was sitting in an alley, sopping wet, thin as a twig and with tear tracks running down his face. He probably looked pathetic.

But now after living on the street with Skipp and Vinnie, two friend he considers like younger siblings to him, he doesn't have anyone to tell him no anymore.
Alternatively: Skipp, Stone, and Vinnie accidentally acquire a new member of their group by taking in a stray dog after she wouldn't leave them alone, and Stone REALLY wants to keep her.

"I feel just fine, Frank. Thank you," Wally replied. He couldn't help but feel saddened upon replying. Why was this bothering him so much? Home only did it for his own good. Why was it so painful then? He didn't want to tell anyone. It's ridiculous. A few days being locked inside Home is nothing to be hysterical about.

After being locked in for days against his will, Wally found it hard to ask for help from anyone. He's hoping that after spending some time with his friends, it will let him forget about what happened, but nothing good comes out of repressing your emotions.
