He couldn’t be wavering, Goro wouldn’t let him give over the world to this poor excuse for a counselor just to save his life. He wouldn’t be controlled again, not by Maruki, not by Akira, not by anyone."

And the thing is, once again: the rivalry, the tenuous friendship, the deal Akechi keeps referring to as if it’s a blood oath, it’s funny, just a bit. It’s funny to see Yoshizawa gasp as Goro’s pupils narrow and his movements become feral. It’s funny watching him switch through personalities and eavesdrop on Akira’s conversations. It’s funny seeing Akechi try and coerce him into an allyship as if he, Joker, should be afraid of him, distrust him. It’s a broken-up confusing world, and they are a broken-up confusing pair, so it’s funny, listening to the promises of happiness: even in this perfect reality it doesn’t seem like anything got better for him, for them. So even the whole Maruki spiel is funny.

No one had expected Akira would get drugged and beaten within an inch of his life; no one could have foreseen it coming.
Goro deeply regrets not being able to prevent it from happening, but it also forces him to admit how he truly feels about Akira.Series

"Well, Takamaki, Suzui, and Sakamoto are going to the shrine tomorrow?" Goro tilts his head and tries not to stare. He fails. "Yoshizawa invited us too."
"Big crowd," Ren says, staring at the bubbling pot. He shuffles from foot to foot, one hand on his neck like he does when he's really lying. "We'd have to…you know, accommodate their schedules."
"You didn't want to see Boss or Futaba?" Goro puts his hand on his chin and bites his lip. It all seems plausible, but the excuses pile up on top of each other. Goro's spent years studying Ren Amamiya. He knows all his tells and their severity. Ren, very deliberately, looks away. "They even texted me to ask you."
Ren doesn't like New Year's Day. Goro's determined to find out why.

Hitoshi glanced back at Bakugo’s sleeping form from the doorway, murmuring out a quiet, “I’ll see you tonight.”
He swore he heard a soft, muffled, “Mhm,” float through the air- but honestly, Hitoshi might’ve just imagined it.
But then, possibly in an instance of legitimate madness, Hitoshi heard it.
“Love you.”
It was very quiet, and slurred- so much so that Hitoshi instantly doubted whether he actually heard it to begin with.
He looked at Bakugo again, still curled up and completely fucking asleep.
Hitoshi quickly exited the room and carefully closed the door behind him.
He stood in the hallway for a bit, pensive.
Hitoshi only stayed like that for a minute, but he still felt… different when he finally walked away.
It felt like all of his everything just tilted a bare degree on its axis- everything remaining exactly the same in appearance, but all jumbled in his head.
Because now there were those tiny little words to deal with.
Or
Bakugo accidentally tells Shinso he loves him, and then he decides to make it literally everyone’s problem.

An Alpha who can sub-vocalize as an Omega isn’t completely unheard of, but Akechi Goro is smart. Playing Omega for the public as the Detective Prince casts him as an ever charming golden boy. Heaven forbid his Alpha subtones ever slip through. They are rough, uneven, and more aggressive than most Alphas. One miscontained growl and everyone would know his secrets.
Mementos makes a good outlet for his frustrations though.Kurusu Akira has known he was an Omega for years. Or at least until a number of circumstances land him in Tokyo and leader of the Phantom Thieves, now suddenly finding himself capable of making distinctly Alpha calls. With judgement all around him regarding his delinquent nature, at least he has space in Mementos to let his Omega voice out.
