Summary
Newt is forced to return to school after being out due to a leg injury, one that has changed his entire life. He starts to think that nothing will ever go back to the way it was after his attempt, until he gets an offer from the High School's coach, Vince, and Newt starts to think that maybe he has a chance. Well, if it weren't for the insufferable star player, Thomas Greene, who is determined to make Newt's life a living hell if he doesn't quit the team.
It does not go as expected ;)
OR: Thomas and Newt are rivals on the basketball team when Thomas realizes there's a lot more to life than winning a game. Now he has to learn to leave his old life behind in order to move forward.

It was another day at WCKD inc, one of the many shitty tattoo shops around town, and it was quite possibly one of the slowest days Thomas had ever worked. He was hoping for maybe a small butterfly or a teenager who would get something they would definitely regret in the future, but instead, he was sitting at the front counter, sketching a design for a single mom who was oddly maternal toward him. As if the universe saw his struggles, the phone decided to ring, and thus, his life had forever changed.

It’s a softer reality now — not cruel, not scary, easier to swallow — and it’s happened almost overnight. When exactly did Eddie become capable of such a thing? He can’t be sure. Maybe it was just that he was getting older. Maybe he was becoming more comfortable living the life he had built for himself with love and care and people who dispensed those feelings back to him, people who never judged him too harshly. Maybe it was merely a case of checks and balances; the freedom of knowing that once everything is gone there will be nothing much left to lose.
Whatever the reason for this revelation, it hardly matters. The wingspan of Eddie’s longing broadens with his search. And before Icarus ever fell, at least he flew.

Eddie doesn’t know if God is listening or if he cares. All he knows is that he has to bring Buck back. He meant it when he said he would do anything. He would move mountains for Buck; he would take as many bullets through the chest as he needed to. He would kill for Buck. He would. He would die for him if that were what it took.
