And Dustin could hear it. Hear the too fast- yet steady- beat that kept on going. Despite everything, it stayed. Despite the demodogs and the flesh monsters and the falls and every other near-death experiences. It just kept going.
Dustin took fistfulls of Steve's jacket and buried his face into the older boy's chest and clung to the sound.

Gil's house was far too quiet. He could hear every little sound—the faint clicking of the heater, the soft hum of the refrigerator. It was almost too much, shifting from the overwhelming loudness of the hospital to this nearly tomblike silence. It pulled his attention back to the faint pounding in his head, the subtle burning of his neck.
He glanced over at Malcolm, who was sitting next to him on the couch, still and completely silent. He was staring numbly at the sleeves of his coat, which were still faintly tinted red with blood—Gil’s blood.

Summary
Gil had been hopeful (maybe naively so) that things had been going better for Bright in Virginia, that a fresh start, fresh state, fresh people, would maybe be enough for the kid to find his footing, to find friends.
He hadn't realized that things had been this bad.

During his time at the FBI, Bright gets assigned a new partner and winds up getting injured on the job. Gil goes to Virginia to help him recover, but it quickly becomes clear that Malcolm may not be telling him the full story.

Summary
May Parker wakes up with the same nasty cold Peter got hit with the day before and, because by some strange twist of the universe she is no longer navigating the world as an entirely single parent, texts Tony to ask him to come over and get Peter, in order to care for him until one or both of them are recovered.
Tony comes over, but not to take Peter and leave. Instead, he announces he's arrived to take care of both of them. May is confused and a little dubious. He's not, as it turns out, terrible at it.

“Better?” He asked once he was all changed. Robert weakly nodded and leaned against the couch again. He whined. “What’s the matter?” Chase asked, taking a seat on Robert’s coffee table.
Robert just seemed to mutter and grumble, but his face was pained. His voice was croaky and breathy. Chase hummed in thought, leaning forward and brushing hair from Robert’s eyes. He still looked pale and weak.
“Maybe you are sick. You’re really pale.” He thought out loud, getting a disapproving groan from Robert. Chase’s hand moved from brushing hair from his eyes to be on the back of his forehead. “You don’t feel that warm.” He noticed how Robert seemed to be tilting his head in the direction of Chase’s hand.
Chase turned to the end of the couch and lay down a pillow that was there, before placing a hand on Robert’s shoulder. “Let’s get you layin’ down, kid.”

Ghost closed his eyes, taking another sip from his drink before there was a sudden presence to his right. In an instant, the incubus felt his body tingle pleasantly, that undeniable pull making itself known.
Good things come to those who wait, it seemed.
“Haven’t seen someone as handsome as you ‘round here in a long, long time.” A low, Scottish voice purred. Ghost opened his eyes to meet a pair of dazzling blue ones, framed by a low brow and accompanied with a wicked smile.
The man was attractive. Strong jaw adorned with stubble, thin lips, round nose, and that stupid looking mohawk that somehow still worked for him. Ghost couldn’t afford to let this catch slip through his fingers tonight.
“Could say the same for you.” He murmured in response, swirling what remained of his drink in his glass.
“I go by Soap. You are?” The man offered a hand, looking up with a glint in his eye.
“Ghost.” He clasped a firm hand, only touching for a moment before withdrawing.
“Ghost,” Soap echoed, letting the name roll around his tongue, “Well, Ghost, can I buy you another drink?”
“Pleasure’s all mine, sweetheart.”

There's nothing about Ghost to love.
More machine than man, he's a weapon for his country to use as they see fit. Stripped of his humanity, Ghost has come to accept his way of life, going through the motions because he has to.
That is, until Soap slowly breaks down Ghost's walls, and makes him realize that maybe there is still hope for him. That his augments don't define the man who suffers within. That he's worthy of love, just like everyone else.

Ghost is motionless, staring down at John's outstretched hand like he's trying to recall on which page of How to Behave Like a Real Human in Polite Society he’s previously seen the gesture.
Before things can get awkward, John turns the aborted handshake into a jovial, manly sort of punch to Ghost’s shoulder. It's rather like how he imagines it would be to hit an adult moose, both in the physical sensation and in the frisson of anticipated danger it elicits. Gamely, he says, “Truck’s just about set, sir. Glad to be working with you.”
Ghost’s eyes flick up to John’s face, and then higher, to his hair. He frowns.

Carter looses a weak scoff, eyes fluttering closed. “G-got stabbed. S’not usually conducive to good health.”
Peter rolls his eyes, though a small smile creeps to his face anyway at the confirmation that yes, despite everything, Carter is still somehow here. Breathing and talking and joking. A far cry from the lifeless weight against Peter’s palms when he rolled him over in the trauma room, unconscious and barely breathing.
OR
Carter gets sick at home following the stabbing, and Peter comes to check on him.

Summary
At the end of 4x05, Patrice abducts River at gunpoint. This time, they go to a remote, isolated manor where Frank is waiting for them. The slow horses do not see or hear from River again for almost five months. During that time, Frank does his level best to break River and rebuild him into a tool he can use, with Patrice as his assisting shadow. This… doesn’t really work. In fact, the process ends up breaking not River, but someone else.
Meanwhile, Slough House is on overdrive trying to find a missing colleague who the Park is all to quick to deem presumed dead and rubber-stamp his file as such. Louisa almost quits, and finds an odd solace in working alongside Lamb to try to bring their missing agent home. She is having a bad one - the maybe-loss of her best friend is tearing her apart.
It all comes to a head when Louisa follows a lead that she knows better than to follow. She is meant to be the last blow that destroys River's resolve. It doesn't shake out like that. By the time they're both rescued, it's a long road to recovery. But there is a road, and there's help along the way.
