    You are cordially invited to attend her Lady of the Manor, Cleo Z. Clocker’s 50th deathday party. This year, alongside the usual meal and activities, we will also be organising a little game.

    Attached you will find a card describing your role and a brief description of your character. Feel free to engage in role-play as little or as much as you like, but please do dress up in costume.

    (P.S: There will be one mortal present, so we ask that you don’t attend in any form which might induce madness or other maladies upon them should they witness you. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.)

    (in which Cleo’s throwing a murder mystery party to celebrate her deathday; Grian gets far too invested in his role as detective, and Scar wants to take their situationship and make it a relationship. Oh, and they’re all Halloween monsters, that’s probably important.)

    When Grian, a proud and powerful ancient dragon gets transported one hundred thousand years into the future, he finds himself in a terrifying place where dragons are no longer the dominant species. In fact, they seem to have all gone extinct by mysterious means, leaving just lesser draconic creatures as their descendants. If he wishes to uncover the mystery of how he got to this future and what happened, he must join forces with a wyvern rider by the name of Scar Times and navigate through a war ridden continent where draconic power is used as weapons in mankind's conflicts. If that wasn't bad enough, he finds himself more and more drawn to Scar's charms as time passes.

    Grian shifted again—another small movement, a thoughtless roll of his hips as he resettled. The bed creaked faintly beneath them, the sound sharp in the hush. Grian froze for half a second, then relaxed, deciding it was probably fine. If anything, it helped the illusion.

    Scar, on the other hand, went very still.

    His jaw tightened, eyes closing briefly as he took a slow breath, hands remaining firmly—but respectfully—at Grian’s sides. When he spoke again, his voice was even, almost too controlled. “Hey,” he said gently, breathlessly, “maybe— maybe don’t move like that.”

    Grian blinked. “Oh—sorry.” He flushed, immediately trying to still himself, hands pressing into Scar’s shoulders for balance. “Did I—?”

    Before Scar could answer—

    BANG BANG BANG.

    When a plan hatches for Grian to pretend to be Scar’s partner at his mother’s ‘Christmas Extravaganza’, Grian realises that fake love feels an awful lot like the real thing—especially when everyone else believes it already is.

    “… What was that?” Gem stared at him like she had seen a ghost. Her jaw might as well have been touching the cobblestone and her eyes looked about to bulge out of her skull. She had turned about 5 shades whiter.
    “Oh, it's Scar’s newest bit,” Grian answered casually. It was definitely nothing that warranted that sort of reaction, didn't even make top 5 of craziest things Scar had done. Maybe not even top 10. He flattened the shopping district overnight just a few weeks ago.
    “His newest bit…” Gem shook her head, recomposing herself. “Can you please explain what exactly is the bit?” Before Grian could reply, she added: “From the very beginning, with as many details as possible. What is wrong with you two?”

    The Menagerie is a courier ship—not a passenger ship. As captain, this is something Grian has always been adamant about.

    That being said... when the going gets tough, sometimes the tough take on two mysterious, magnetically charming passengers who agree to pay their way in cash in exchange for as few questions asked as possible.

    And if comms go down eleven hours into a month-long journey... well, that's probably nothing to worry about.
