Of all the battles and struggles Cas has faced, this absolutely feels like the worst. Maybe a slight exaggeration on Cas’ part, but everything aches and he’s never felt so broken and fragile in his life. But Dean, ever-loving and oh-so-caring, is there for him every step of the way with soothing comfort and a little surprise to make Cas feel better.

Heaven is quieter than Dean expected. Slower. Something you live in instead of earn.
When Castiel tells Dean he wants to occupy a female vessel—wanting to experience Heaven not as an angel observing from the outside, but to understand what it means to be desired and to desire Dean in return—it isn’t framed as a problem to solve or a test to pass. It’s simply a truth, offered with the same calm certainty Castiel has always carried.
Dean takes a moment to adjust. Not because he loves Castiel any less, but because Heaven has finally given them the space to be honest in ways they never could before. Loving Castiel still feels the same. The details are different. The instinct isn’t.
Some things don’t disappear just because the shape changes. You don’t forget them. You remember how—just like riding a bike.

Summary
