Zoro swayed on his feet with blood dripping from all over his body. Old wounds had reopened, and barely through his wincing eye could he see Sanji with his flaming foot raised in the air and the most horrified expression Zoro had ever seen.
“Oh my God,” Sanji said, staring at Zoro’s protruding ribs. “What…”
Sanji trailed off, unable to look away from Zoro’s condition, but he was forced back into the task at hand since Zoro’s unbelievably light body collapsed straight into his own.
Or:
Zoro gets kidnapped by marines and faces extreme torment for months. With his muscles withered and health damaged, recovery is tougher than he thought, but to his surprise, Sanji insists on helping him regain his strength. Turns out Sanji was disturbed by the swordsman's condition on a more personal matter.

It’s hopeless, it’s useless, he’s gone now, Zoro seems to say and that fragile hope shatters inside Sanji’s chest. It splinters and pierces his organs and the tears roll down Sanji’s cheeks.
“I just want them to come home.” Sanji says, and something on Zoro’s face cracks.
Zoro and Sanji, after everyone dies.

Summary
Luffy leans over the edge of the top of the rocks, into Zoro’s face. Zoro, who looks upside down at Luffy with nothing but a full heart and a gratefulness for the new company.
He’s considering reaching up to fit his hand against Luffy’s cheek, rub his thumb across the soft skin and pull him into a small kiss, one that he is always craving, no matter how many Luffy gives him.
Instead, Luffy takes both hands and grabs Zoro on either side of his face and all but mashes his forehead into Zoro’s nose from how close he gets. His eyes are wild, a small sheen of sweat that dapples his skin like he’s been having way too much fun out there by himself.
“Come dance with me.”
“Huh?”

Sanji’s chortle at his words caught him off guard. Zoro was just as surprised by his own instinct to soothe rather than berate the cook as Sanji must have been, but in their situation, he felt some compassion was warranted.
‘That bad, huh?’ Sanji rasped. His words were slightly slurred, and he spoke slower than usual, almost as if he were drunk. ‘When Roronoa Zoro offers words of comfort, you know things are proper messed up.’
‘I mean it,’ Zoro said, sternly. ‘We’re getting through this, you hear me? I’m not about to let some freak accident at sea take us both out.’
When the Going Merry is attacked in the middle of the ocean during a storm, Sanji is knocked overboard, and Zoro has to make the split second decision to save him at the risk of dooming them both.

There’s a scrambling sound as Zoro gets up. “I don’t need advice from a waiter.”
“Sort of sounds like you do, mate,” says Sanji. “Most of us master walking by the age of two or so but you seem to be having trouble.”
The strawhats are on a treasure hunt, which would be fine if Sanji wasn't incredibly hungover. The only bright spot is that Zoro's hangover is even worse.
Except in his case it turns out not to be a hangover...

Summary
An attack on The Straw Hat Pirates leads to the gruesome demise of everyone in the crew. Well, almost everyone. Zoro and Sanji are the only two left alive, forced to live with the agonizing pain of their found family's death. Lucky for them, Law noticed the two men's names were not listed in the obituary posted in the news. He sets off to gather the remaining members and takes them into his care, forcing them to leave their decimated ship and take residency on the Polar Tang. Once there, Zoro and Sanji must learn to deal with their problems and work through their emotions. Slowly growing closer and closer as the days pass.
