Martin Castillo is an icon of Stoicism.
Throughout the five year run of Miami Vice, Castillo's character had every 'manpain' trope thrown at his somber, black, wash and wear suit (sometimes TWICE - I'm glaring at you MPDJK) but nothing stuck. He met each shit-show with eyes glaring, bleeding, katana in hand with that .357 Smith and Wesson on his hip.
This series is the bits between all that. It looks at people that are rarely on screen, yet appear to know him very well. Some of the characters that hold his secrets and friendships that make him human are Jack Gretsky, Father Ernesto Lupe, Erendira, Chata, Nguyen Van Trahn, Aurturo Urribe, (et.al.). All of these people hold pieces to the taciturn LT that are never shared with the audience.
These stories stay within the Canon Timeline but offer possibilities of off-screen lives. They are not necessarily within the same universe.

Summary
A series based upon Spectres of Dark and LIght by B.Lewis — wherein Martin Castillo and Sonny Crockett meet in Vietnam and share an experience that reverberated through their lives.
Memories of Light and Dark by A_Library_of_SKGates / Edgeland_Commons continued the story with Castillo and Crockett acknowledging that past and how it fit into their Miami lives.
This AO3 published series expands Lewis' Vietnam conjecture by exploring the C/C ship from Castillo's POV. It pays tribute to both foundational works while also fitting into the canonical timeline. The stories in this series propose a backstory for Castillo, a deeply personal and fluctuating relationship between Castillo and Crockett, how they hide that relationship in plain sight, and how they accept (or not) their same sex relationship in the problematic cultural norms of the 1980.

"Why do you think Remus has scars?” Sirius asked James later that evening, his voice gentle. He was propped up on his bed, twirling his signet ring in his fingers, his gray eyes stormy. He didn’t look at James. Peter and Remus were at the library and a heavy ache had settled in Sirius’s soul all day.
James huffed softly. “You know I don’t know,” he told him, slapping his socked foot gently when he passed by him, crawling into his own bed.
Their second year, Sirius is worried about Remus--noticing his scars are multiplying and is worried about the cause. He asks in a very bad way and Remus avoids them all for two weeks. It drives Sirius insane, wanting to help his friend and put a stop to whatever could be hurting him; whoever.

No, no, it was because if Ron didn’t manage to speak then Draco would find out from the Daily Prophet that Ron had died in a back alley after being hit by a curse from a Death Eater. If Ron didn’t somehow tell Harry the truth now, Draco would never know how he truly felt. Because Draco had made Ron swear to not tell his loved ones they were dating—not yet, not until Draco was ready. And Ron had agreed. But now, as he lay dying on a sidewalk in some random Muggle town, Ron rather wished he would’ve broken that particular promise.
When Ron doesn't return home from a mission as expected, Draco has to swallow his pride and figure out what happened to him.
