    Roy likes Jamie. Jamie likes Roy. Neither of them says it out loud. That’s how the story goes. Roy has made his peace with that.
    So, they will sit on Roy’s steps every afternoon, drinking tea and talking about nothing, and when people see them there day after day, they will be right when they say they’re just mates. Roy has let the sun in, and he could never expect it to stay.

    …Until it does.
