All the while, Geralt thinks he must be losing his grasp on reality as he's haunted by his sins: waterlogged footsteps appearing on the decks of ships, the hem of a blue coat turning corners, the scent of gunpowder following each elusive sighting... Geralt doesn't believe in ghosts, they're nothing more than stories written by scared men, but all stories have a kernel of truth in them and Geralt seems to be caught in the middle of one.

“Oh good, you’re awake,” a masculine voice says from above him and there’s something sharp being slid under his chin and tipping his head upward. He blinks hard against the sudden brightness until the black spots fade and his eyes focus on the shadow looming over him.
Captain Jaskier stands before him in all his pirate glory, tricorn tipped back and blood washed from his skin and clothing. Without his coat, he has his sleeves rolled up to his elbows to put on display toned, tanned, and freckled forearms, one of which is heavily tattooed with sea monsters. A story told in ink upon his skin. His long fingers are wrapped around the hilt of his sword, the tip of which is what’s angling Geralt’s head up to force him to gaze upon the captain who looks more like a god of the sea in the fading light of the day and the breeze blowing through the strands of hair that have slipped free of his ponytail.

After the dragon hunt, Jaskier is determined to prove to himself that he’s not a burden to anyone and ends up on a journey that pushes him to his limits and takes him back to his very roots. Meanwhile, Geralt is trying to reconcile with his bard and still support Cirilla, even with Nilfgaard’s growing presence through the Continent. All of them become involved in a war they wanted no part in, fighting side by side for very different things against soldiers clad in black armor and mages that threaten the lives of any who aren’t human. It’s up to Jaskier, Geralt, and Cirilla to save the Continent and all the people living on it, human and elf alike.
