Ash had learned to conceal facets of himself that were not meant to be revealed.
There were aspects of his nature that Ewron—or anyone on the island, save for the Federation, of course—knew nothing about. Things Ash had spent a great deal of time hiding.
The unnatural coldness of his skin, for instance, which he usually kept covered by gloves or layers of clothing. The way sunlight sometimes caused him pain if he remained exposed to it for too long. The fact that he never ate, always finding some excuse to avoid sharing meals.
And then there was the blood. Ash had learned early on that being a vampire was less like possessing a magnificent supernatural gift and more like living with an instinct that never fully went away. The hunger could be controlled. It could be ignored for days—sometimes longer—if one possessed enough discipline. He had learned to control himself because he had no other choice.
Ewron had never made that easy.

Ash, being the world-class footballer he is, doesn't get nervous.
It's written down in the tabloids, recorded down in interviews, engraved into his reputation. The constant of his expectations is a familiar weight on his shoulders, reminiscent of the oppressive heat of a summer match, the trickle of sweat it induces along his spine only sparking something ascertain within him.
Because if his history of working—and living, practically—is anything to go by, Ash never falls short of perfect, always exceeding expectations.
He shoots, he scores. His betters make their money, and in return, he gets to celebrate with a stadium full of screaming fans (or haters; the boos and the cheers meld into one when the blood rushes to his ears), signing a few autographs along the way.
A fact that won't change ten years into his career, or the ten after that. Not even when he has to face his own boyfriend's team—and by extension, him—in a match tomorrow.
Which is because, and say it with him now, Ash doesn't get nervous.
And no, his incessant pacing on the rug of his lavish hotel room doesn’t mean shit. Shut your damn mouth.

Still, Ewron was jolted awake to the occasional sounds of thunder roaring across the sky. Any indication of Ewron's distress was felt through a soft squeeze of Ewron's fingers against Ash's hand. Ash just squeezed back, an indication of his presence. That was enough.

He puts on his best baby voice, the one he uses with his pets, or anytime he's excited, really. "Hi, I'm the kurwa doorman for the building I'm— I help carry bags. Yeah, that's my job, can you believe it?"
She seems to believe his every word, and even the older girl who's glued to Ash's side visibly relaxes. If not for their father shaking his head. "He's lying, don't pay him attention."

Ewron has a new neighbor, who happens to be a hot single dad. And he isn't over playing babysitter to get what he wants.
