“You want a rating on our hug,” George repeats seriously, like he’s voicing his own thoughts out loud. A beat. “Why?”
Dream lays on his back, staring at the ceiling, mentally digging at his brain for answers. Not just a rating. George’s rating, specifically. All he knows is that George’s opinion is one of the only ones that properly matters, no matter how small the question is. He can be honest about that. “I care about what you think.”
Or, George spends the night in Dream's hotel room and is subjected to Dream's silly questions.

Dream bites his lip and lets his head fall back against his pillow, trying to ignore the hardness that's been forming in his boxers. He wants to stay on call with George, but he doesn't know how much longer he can before it's downright obscene.
"I'm tired," Dream says, his voice far too gravely, too raw. He should hang up.

BUT despite that description, this isn't straight smut so don't get disappointed when it's a little bit of a slow burn situation that is dialogue heavy lol (not too slow burn but a bit)

“Yeah. Why not?” George answers with a shrug. “I’m straight so it’s not like I’ll catch feelings, and neither will you because I’ll castrate you if you fall in love with me and ruin our friendship.”

“You’d want to?” Then, “sometimes I do that actually. Patches will get up on my bed and even that is too warm and crowded for me.”
George formed a frown on his face. “I don’t want to crowd you.”
Another pause. George could tell that Dream’s hand had covered his mouth.
Then, very fondly, Dream whispered, “you won’t. I promise you that you won’t.”
Somehow, close was not close enough.

“Well you’re not sleeping on it either,” Dream insisted. “So you either take my offer and I can sleep on the couch, or we both stay here in my room and share my bed.”
George blinked once. Then twice.
“What?” He let out, shyly taking his hand away as he looked at his friend with slightly widened eyes, surprise and confusion in his features. The American shrugged in response.
“I mean, it’s a big bed…”
“You’re serious?” He questioned, despite knowing the answer. The blond instantly nodded. He let out a soft sigh. "I can’t tell you to sleep on the couch, Dream…”
“Then we share,” his friend mumbled, shrugging again. Like it was that easy for him, like the answer was simple.
George was too tired, and couldn’t think of any other solution. So he didn’t.
“Okay,” he mumbled, nodding just once.
“Okay,” the boy said back, mimicking his gesture.
And that was that.
Then a new routine of interactions was quick to be born.

Or, George breaks his bed on his first night in Florida, then a sleeping arrangement that was meant to last until he got a new bed frame soon turned into a routine; full of domesticity and gestures that blur the platonic line.

This is what they do. They speak in jokes and memes and let their true thoughts bleed through into the cracks that only they can read. Like sand in dusty corners, hidden but intrusive. George knows the space between Dream's words, the things he doesn't say. He can hear the change in pitch from hours and hours of practice. He's had days of calls, nights of Dream's voice floating to him across an ocean and through a speaker until George has become fluent in a language that doesn't have a name.
When George gets to Florida, he has a hard time adjusting to all the touching.
