“I…” Dream’s voice cracked, raw and uneven, as he tried to form words that refused to come. “I don’t understand.”
Nightmare’s response was a low, velvety croon; slow and deliberate. “You wanted your brother back, didn’t you?” The satisfaction in his tone was unmistakable, a rich, indulgent amusement curling around each syllable. He was enjoying this—savoring it—the way Dream’s composure cracked, his visible surprise. Nightmare found himself hilarious, and he made no effort to hide it. “So I brought him for you. I even wrapped him up for you.”
Nightmare’s hand rose, unhurried, to cradle the cheek of his younger self. The gesture was almost tender, but the reaction it elicited was anything but. The boy flinched at the touch, his entire form shuddering violently. His bones rattled, each sound a sharp note within the stillness of the room. Silk bound his mouth, tied tightly enough to gag him, the fabric pressing into the grooves of his jaw.
It was clear he didn’t know what was happening.
Nightmare offers Dream a gift.

Summary
Cross had always been intrigued by the soulmate phenomena and yearned to meet his fated lover, after all, who wouldn’t be curious who was destined to be your complimenting part? Most people around him have found their happiness…Except, to the guard’s disappointment, for him. No matter how much he searched he never seemed to find that mysterious person but he definitely felt their pain.
Killer on the other hand wasn’t that enthusiastic about this whole ‘soulmate’ thing. He was broken and couldn’t even feel physical pain to the full extent like others. He didn’t want to burden whoever was cursed to be bound to him of all creatures, though he still hoped for things to become better.
Usually, it’s quite easy to realize who’s your soulmate. If you’re not Cross or Killer that is.

“You want to jump between Dreamboy and Cross’ daggers, be my fucking guest,” Dust told him, curtly. “Actually, go do that. But wait until I pull my phone out.”
Killer chuffed a laugh, the one that was a little unsure; he had no idea if Dust was kidding or not. How cute. “You want to leave Cross to take him on alone?”

Alright, maybe a bit of recon. Ream Nightmare after his little getaway. He gently slid the door open to the main room, trying to get a peek.
Holy shit.
From the door, Nightmare couldn’t see him, not easily, but from this angle, Killer could see a fuckton of him. He was positioned onto his hands and knees, having settled his chest onto a footrest to keep him upright. His one cyan eye was lolled back into his skull, a tentacle slowly thrusting down his throat, Nightmare’s mouth open and drooling around it.

Horror isn't the easiest monster to get along with, but then again neither is Cross.
As a matter of fact, everyone in Nightmare's gang ranges from "prickly" to "an entire goddamn cactus", so Cross really should've known what he was getting into by coming back. It shouldn't bother him when Horror begins snapping at him over every little thing, nor should he feel so jealous watching the Boss' interests stray from himself to their newest, oversized arrival.
It shouldn't. But it does. He shouldn't want more than their casual flings. But he...does?
On second thought, Cross isn't so sure how he feels about that.

The sight of the little, familiar crevice in the rocky wall made his breath stutter in his ribcage, a portion of the tension he didn’t even know he held falling off his shoulders. He squeezed himself between the rocks, immediately feeling safer once he was out of the open water.
He arranged the seaweed in the crevice, lining the bottom and stuffing the little cracks until he was as satisfied with it as he could be, the rocks no longer chafing against his tail. With a little trill in the back of his non-existent throat, Cross curled up in the small nook, forcing down the heat in his bones as it spiked every now and then.
It’d be a long day, he guessed.

Inviting your brother to come live with you at your villain Boss' spooky castle lair is weird enough, but that on top of there being 4 near-identical clones of you, who you are dating, 3 of which have dead brothers that look the same as yours, who you have been together with for even longer, puts Horror in an awkward situation to say the least.
But anything is worth the tension if it means sleeping next to Papyrus again.
Now... if only to figure out if those weird looks were from hostility, or... something else.
