Chuuya’s eyes opened wide. He blinked a couple of times, then let out an incredulous breath. While retreating into his chair, he mumbled, “I... didn’t think it would work.”
“It really didn’t,” Dazai smirked. He made sure to inflect his tone with scorn and mockery; let it be known that he would not bend to a human’s fleeting desires. “That is not my real name.”
“It is.” Chuuya inclined his head to the side, curls caressing his features in fire, highlighting the redness of his cheeks — he was embarrassed, Dazai mused. Humans’ foolishness really was amusing: they had so little time and spent so much of it feeling. “As long as we’re together, that is your real name.”

After graduating from college Chuuya Nakahara ended up taking a scholarship out of Japan for a year to work on his master's degree.
Now he's back to the city that saw him grow, and back to the person he always finds himself coming back too, even if Dazai is a constant headache.
What he wasn't expecting was that, his year away, would have been enough for Dazai to become a father.

After a thoroughly shit day at work, Dazai just wanted to destress with something familiar, but he finds himself being told by his friends that if he ever wants to have a serious relationship he needs to try someone who is his total opposite. They challenge him to approach the cute redhead dressed in pink at the bar, and Dazai never steps down from a challenge.
His friends made him promise not to sleep with him straight away, but... Dazai was greedy and this redhead was a whole fucking meal.

But wouldn’t it be fair? Sharing them with Chuuya? Taking some of the weight away?
Chuuya knows about his ghosts, he keeps them at bay each day, and here he is, running away from a kid no longer alive or breathing.
“I’ll take it,” he says as he stands up. “I doubt I’m getting any sleep either way, at least I’ll do something useful.”///

Dazai, who started to walk again after composing himself from their almost crash, stumbled a bit on his next step while his head snapped in Chuuya’s direction with an alarming crack. He regarded Chuuya with one curious eye, then he chuckled.
“Don’t be silly chibi, we are already outside. Your tacky hat is clearly eating your bra–”
Chuuya’s irritation flared anew. From the corner of his eye, he could clearly see the two figures coming closer and closer, and he knew he had only mere seconds until the inevitable would happen.
“No, you fucker. I meant, go out with me,” Chuuya pressed on, throwing all his pride and dignity out of the window, then he gulped around the dry cotton suddenly clogging up his throat before he uttered his next words. “As in, date me for the week.”

Summary

And while he was right on that as Chuuya was first in his class and passed the bar with flying colors, and also won several seemingly impossible cases in his career as he had no match in the courtroom with his fiery temper and no bullshit attitude, this time the case was not only impossible to win, but Chuuya also made a fatal miscalculation on the matter.
A miscalculation that started the night before when he forgot to set an alarm, his mind otherwise occupied, and which escalated the moment the prosecution called one of their key witnesses to the stand. A detective who was at the scene during the murder; a detective whose presence made Chuuya realize that he messed up. Oh, he fucked up big time.
Because the very same bandaged bastard who fucked him seven ways to Sunday the night before just walked up to the stand.
Or: Defense Attorney Chuuya hooks up with Detective Dazai the night before they meet in court.
