Summary
Daniel was desperate the night that Armand found him for the second time. He wanted to die. His life felt like it was falling to pieces before his eyes, and it all stemmed from that night. The bite, the scar on his neck, memories filled with holes. The word ‘rest’ rang through his head over and over. His body felt like it wasn’t his. The pain of the bandages around his chest almost matched the urge to shred his chest to pieces. Armand, the mysterious angel-like figure who watched over him, would not let him die. The vampire Armand was Daniel’s hope. Daniel wildly needed the dark gift. It would save him from his miserable life of people second guessing him, looking at him as if he were a child. However, Armand refused to give the gift.
Armand watched his boy try to take his own life. Watched and understood the pain deep within him. He needed to stop him. He couldn’t lose this boy.

Summary
Daniel was focused on his breathing. In and out, big breaths to calm his muscles. He felt ridiculous, spread out on the bed attempting to insert the size two dilator, which was barely bigger than his finger. It was stupid that he couldn’t seem to get such a small thing into him.

Armand needed something to ground him so he didn't float away. He needed Lestat with his laissez-faire attitude. Lestat, his oldest lover and friend, he understood Armand on certain levels that the other two could not. He had seen him at one of the lowest points of his life and therefore understood things that could not be explained. He knew the way Armand's heart was shaped, horribly mangled as it was.

"I love you, Daniel," Armand said, attempting to control himself. He wanted Daniel but not now, not here, with his brain fighting him on every word. Each car passing grading on his already worn down nerves, the collar of his jacket touching his neck. He needed to leave but had so much work to do with Daniel, he knew leaving would ruin anything he had done. He gritted his teeth harshly and dug his nails into his palms, finding mild release within the pain of the puncture wounds.

The tape was painful to take off without preparation, he had done it many times.
