    Considering all the missions they’ve been on before, Kon supposes it could be worse. He’s pinned beneath the rubble of a collapsed building, the unsteady beams forming a little concrete cave over his head. Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem. Normally, he could just bust out of here, dust off a little plaster from his head and be on his merry way.

    The Kryptonite shard lodged into his side is a problem though. His unconscious teammate slumped over his feet is another.

    Tim Drake is used to taking care of himself. It's an old habit he picked up straight from when he was old enough to comprehend the English language. So, when he wakes up in the middle of the night, next to his dead laptop, stomach violently churning and skin soaked in sweat, he quickly rubs his eyes to keep himself awake long enough to get to the washroom. Tim opts for sitting on the cold tile floor, his knees curled up in a fruitless attempt to stop feeling like he's about to die at the hands of Mr. Freeze.

    OR: When Tim wakes up feeling ill, he decides that living on the bathroom floor with a singular bathmat for warmth is a good idea. Thankfully, his new family is willing to help him out a bit.

    Or in otherwords, five times Bruce showed Tim he was loved, and one time Tim finally believed him.

    But Merlin was here, as always, and something about that presence, that steady support, made him feel like he could.

    "I know you hate doing this," Arthur said slowly, his words deliberate but thick with emotion. “But you always do. Even when I don’t ask. Even when I’m a stubborn idiot who doesn’t deserve it.”

    Merlin’s heart skipped a beat. He blinked, his mouth opening as if to respond, but no words came. His breath hitched at the sincerity in Arthur’s voice. It was strange, hearing Arthur like this—without the usual sarcasm, without the walls of pride and bravado that usually stood between them.

    Arthur catches a terrible cold but refuses to rest. Merlin, fed up, forces him to stay in bed and takes care of him—grumbling all the while. Eventually, Arthur, half-delirious, keeps mumbling soft confessions about how much he appreciates Merlin.
