Summary
In 1717, Edward Teach fell in love with Stede Bonnet.
In the 21st century, he does it again.
Stede is everything he was back then, and Ed falls just as hard this time. The only problem: Stede doesn't remember 1717.
And neither does Ed.

Summary
From the Author:There’s something…off about The Gentleman Pirate. It takes Ed a little while to put it all together, longer than it would have if Stede weren’t so fascinating, so goddamn distracting. It’s little things, at first: how Stede is not a good enough pirate to be that blasé with his personal welfare, how confident he seems that things will work out in the end, the glimmer in his eye he gets when danger comes close and whispers in his ear. It’s maddening and familiar, too, because Ed swears he’s met Stede before. Maybe on a ship somewhere, or in town, a shared look before a shared bed; though, if the sex were as good then as it is now, Ed’s sure he would remember. As Ed watches and waits — and desperately tries not to fall in love — he grows more and more convinced that the truth is a terrifying third option; a monster parents tell their children about at night and all sailors dread. Stede Bonnet is The World Ender.

Summary
Stede Bonnet owns a fancy yarn shop in a cosy little seaside town. Life is mostly peaceful, a bit stressful, often lonely—then the empty shop next door is taken over by a leatherworker with kind eyes and a surprising fondness for cashmere, and everything changes.

Summary
Stede is divorced, rebuilding a life in the UK and working at Jim's non-profit community centre. His 6-month stay is running out and, well, turns out a fake marriage is an option to stay, because tropes are fun. Ed's got his own shit going on, you'll find out more in later chapters, but he thinks a sham marriage to this weird guy is probably going to at least be a bit of a laugh.
Total podfic run time is 4:31:17.
From the author:Right, disclaimers - this is not based on real immigration law beyond a brief google and lives on an over-reliance on fun tropes. So, it is almost certainly all kinds of wrong, and I'm asking for a bit of suspension of disbelief on the premise!
Also, there are obvious issue of privilege, class, race and migration in the themes here, this is not all fully addressed in the first chapter but will be throughout. As in the show, Stede is in a highly privileged position, I'm aware of that and it will be reflected upon in the story.
Community Space is based on a bunch of organisations I have had the pleasure of working with and for at various times. Support your local charities and non-profits :)

Summary
Stede thinks Ed would look good in panties, and God knows he's right.
--
“I just think it’d be nice.”
Stede’s blush goes all the way up to the tips of his ears as he says it. And Ed, he appreciates this openness, but.
“Hot, how?” he asks. He thinks it would look ridiculous, not hot.
“You know,” Stede looks down, wiping his hands on his thighs. “Such a delicate fabric, soft against your skin.” His pupils are wide as he looks back at Ed. “The lace barely containing your di-”
“I’ll think about it.”
“Ok,” Stede says. Big breath. “Alright.”

Summary
The man typed for a moment before nodding. “Yep, got you right here. Hey, Ed! Doug! Your clients are here!”
Two men entered the lobby from the back hallway. One had floppy brown hair. The other was… well, mesmerizing was the only word Stede could think of that was anywhere near enough to describe him. Moon-streaked curls cascaded over constellations of freckles and sunspots. Tattoos lined the man’s arms, telling a story of stars and shipwrecks and games lost long ago. And his eyes… Stede had never seen such eyes, eyes that seemed to contain the entire universe.
“Hey there.” The silver-haired man’s voice was silky and rich. “Name’s Ed.” He shook Stede’s hand with a firm, velvety touch. Not taking his eyes off of Stede, he tilted his head toward the man at the counter. “Frenchie, which one of these lovely people is with me today?”

Summary
It’s the only time he’s ever taken orders in his adult life, because with Stede they don’t feel like control or threats - they feel like love. He can always say no. Stede would stop the moment he asks. But knowing that, and asking for it anyway, settling in where he can trust Stede to call the shots for both of them? Well. Ed can’t think too much about it because he’ll get all misty and shit, but it’s strong stuff.

Summary
The page is tucked into the gilded frame of the auxiliary wardrobe’s mirror. Its edges are crinkled, streaked with the comet-tail smudges of greasepaint and the oil from his own fingers. It’s been folded and unfolded enough that the lines through it are rubbed smooth and thin and well-worn from memorisation. Despite this, great care is taken of it, and every time Ed unfolds it he does it with gentle, uniform precision.
Ed traces his thumb over the rough inked swirl of Stede’s hair, imagines the soft spun-gold curls between his fingers shining better than any treasure he’s looted by far. Stede shone like that, always, a sight better than the filthy lifestyle he decided to pursue. It’s probably better that he left, even if the aching tatters of Ed’s heart beg otherwise.

Summary
Stede didn't show, Ed went back to being Blackbeard, and despite the two crews having since reconciled to sail the Revenge together again, things remain awfully tense between the two co-captains.
Perhaps a late-night drinking game and a pinch of jealousy will sort that right out.
**
“Never have I ever...” Stede swallowed. Never had he ever.
“...shared my bed with a man,” he said, and the air quickly filled with murmurs, rising like buzzing insects around him.
“Hold on, be more specific. To sleep or to fuck?” Black Pete yelled out, and Stede plucked at invisible lint on his coat, avoiding the one pair of eyes he could feel pressing on him.
“To... eh... fuck,” he clarified. Technically, he had shared a bunk bed with Ed, even if the other man hadn't slept there.
“Buggered a man or been buggered by a man?” Fang pressed, and Stede waved his hands before his face as if to stave off the question like a pesky fly.
“Neither. Both.”
He shouldn't have picked this one. He wasn't even sure why he had done it. To provoke something, perhaps. To express his frustrations. To communicate something to... someone.
He didn't look at Ed.

Summary
Slow, slow, slow. Lips, tongues, teeth. Stede thinks about time, about the Adagio for Strings, how it pulls like taffy over a tempo as slow as a lover’s sleeping breaths. Thinks that slow, for Ed, might be more about tenderness than caution. Thinks about him in the cabin earlier, wondering aloud whether his probation would last a day, or maybe more than one day. He thinks that maybe this is slow for Ed. He snakes his arm around Ed’s waist, draws him closer, presses their bodies together.
“I love you,” he whispers, and Ed presses his forehead to Stede’s.
“Take me to bed,” Ed murmurs, and Stede asks, because he has to.
“Are you sure? You said –”
“Take me to bed slowly,” Ed says, and Stede laughs, kisses his lips, his cheeks, his forehead.

Summary
“Edward,” he sighed, bunching the fabric of the nightshirt in his hands and inching the hem slowly up the long, delicious length of his legs. “Ed, I need you. Please.”
Ed swallowed hard. “You know I can’t leave my post right now.”
“So don’t.”
