Summary
April 1st, 1964
Malthus and Hilda had planned to meet and run away by train together to Rio. However, amid the political tensions of the time, coup leaders managed to seize power and establish a military dictatorship, ordering the arrest of thousands of people on that very day, including Malthus, stopping him from catching that train.
Four years later, Hilda and Malthus's paths cross again amid the chaos of a protest against the authoritarian regime. Summary
Hunting trips are usually one of the things Neytiri loves most, but today she finds herself wishing this trip would end.
She stares across the cooking fire to where Jake is sitting and eating. He is not sitting next to her – he is not even talking to her – and she feels like the entire trip has been wasted. It started off so wonderfully only to end in absolute disaster!
She takes a bite of her food and stares moodily into the fire, anger twisted inside her stomach.
How did she find herself here, eating roasted winzaw meat while across from her a woman she is finding harder and harder not to want to shoot is flirting with Jake?
This is not what I planned.
Or: Neytiri is jealous and Jake finds himself balancing on a tightrope he doesn't even realize he's on.
