Too defeated. She’d lost her, anyway. May as well bring the girls into her wallowing, and save herself from solitary rotting. They were already joined at the hip, so one more secret couldn’t hurt.
Robyn lifted herself from the weirdly soft couch pillows, precariously balancing a beer in her hand, and looked Saoirse up and down, sceptical. On Saoirse’s other side, Dara sighed.
“I know you meant it, Saoirse,” Robyn said. “You’re possibly the last one on Earth to know, but I believe your heart was in it.”

She muffles a laugh as Samira just curses and grumbles under her breath, something long and winding that sounds like it’s aimed at her. Catches the words rich surgeons and savior complex and thinks a pretty face means you can do whatever you want, a smile stretching across her face that she doesn’t bother hiding.
“You think I’m pretty?” Emery teases, turning so she’s in front of Samira and walking backwards as she grins at her. Her heart beats faster at the possibility, knowing Samira didn’t intend for her to hear her mumbled grumbling, letting herself have the tiniest pinch of hope for once.
