Regulus. The heart of the lion. The brightest star in the Leo constellation. He had been named for a star that was supposed to shine with pride and brilliance. The little king, it was often called. He found it all horribly ironic, really. It was as if he was being mocked by the gods themselves for his clear mediocrity.
Regulus was completely and utterly certain that he hadn’t done a single thing in his life to deserve such a glorious namesake.or
Regulus Black was dragged into the freezing water with his wand in hand, and what came next was a series of events so utterly preposterous and grandiose that the very fabric of reality began to splitter and reweave itself so that he was now cradled gently between the folds separating the earth and the stars.

Remus turns toward the cohabitants of his compartment, and startles. He’s back in his fifth year suddenly; Sirius had just ran away from home, and he teared up when he came with James onto the train platform. Except, James is on the floor, unconscious, and tearing up would be an understatement for what Sirius is doing right now, but this isn’t Sirius, and it almost looks like—

"Nothing, I was just thinking of the tea I witnessed yesterday." Remus said his smirk deepening and Lily found herself matching it, Regulus laughed,

Summary
The floo flared green and Sirius stumbled out, his hair a wreck and face haunted. He'd been allowed to change back to his clothes, though, jeans and a leather jacket, and he clenched his wand tightly in his fist. Stormy grey eyes looked around the room wildly, taking in the familiar setting, the old wizard smiling amiably at him, before finally settling on Remus.
"Moony!" he croaked, turning towards him. Remus rushed to him, knocking the chair over in the process and wrapping his arms around him. "They're gone, Moony, and it's all my fault."

For the better part of a month - Remus Lupin has been raising Harry with the help of the Weasleys and, unbeknownst to anyone, Regulus. The capture of Peter Pettigrew has led to Sirius Black's release, and they're left picking up the pieces.

This form also allowed him to hunt, an urge that had initially been distasteful that he had come to appreciate. The single minded focus on the prey, shutting out everything else, the freedom of being able to feed himself and stay on the outskirts of the wilderness when things got to be too much.
It was not something he had any real need to practice at the Burrow, of course. Remus ensured he had his needs met and, while he would not admit to this, with 7 children running around there were always scraps for a cat to fetch. The birds and mice were safe.
Except for one.

"Give him to me," the 10 year old said with confidence, taking Harry into his arms. With a few tickles and a raspberry to the cheek, the small boy was giggling in delight again. Bill then placed him on the changing table, making faces at him, folding the diaper on him and pinning it expertly before placing Harry on the floor to toddle after Ron.
"I'll get a teddy bear you can practice on," Bill said flatly, rolling his eyes at Remus before disappearing off the stairs while the stunned man stared after him.

Sirius Black's birthday fell 2 days after he was arrested for blowing up a street and killing a dozen muggles as well as Peter Pettigrew. The war is over, but all of his friends are either dead or in jail - accused of betraying those he'd loved most. Remus is left trying to remember how to function.

Summary
Their lives ended in tragedy. Bodies ripped and torn, blood flowing thick and crimson as it filled their mouths with the taste of iron, while choking and strangling whatever screams they may have had. Their youth, happiness and potential, sacrificed, as so many others of their time, to a war none of them wanted nor had any choice in.
So many horrors, aches and regrets. Their final moments were ones of agony and helplessness, that didn’t achieve anything but to add another body to the pile and another person ‘missing in action’ for parents to mourn.
But this isn’t that story. This is a story of change, love, fate and cursed blessings. Of people forever altered, of a looming war tearing the world they knew apart, of family and friendship, of two children and their choices as they unwittingly change the course of history. Two souls on opposite sides, shown the other side of the coin and the horrors that lay within.
One where ancient powers return to the wizarding world once more - blooming like a blossom in spring, and sparking to life like the light of a new star slowly beginning to burn.
