“Go ahead, serve yourself, Mohan.” For whatever reason, the usage of her last name sort of jolts her. Like she almost forgot her place, that she may be in his home, eating his food, with his daughter, but he is still very much her attending. And, now, sort-of her boss.

She looked over at him, startled, but Abbot wasn’t looking at her face, he was looking at her hands where they rested on the table, or maybe at something past her hands that she couldn’t see. “I thought— I mean, you wear a wedding ring,” she said hesitantly.
He looked up at Mohan, keen-eyed and sharp. “Well, I wear dog tags, too,” he said.

All that to say, it was difficult for him to understand just how Samira Mohan seemed to sneak up on him. How she managed to take root in his life as if she’d been planted there beside him all along.

Summary
Jace averted his eyes, heart beating out of his chest as he turned his body, drawing up his knees to his chest. He forced himself to look at the fireplace and not the movements in the corner of his eye, the upwards movement of a shift, pale against the dark room. A blush bloomed high on his cheeks as the rustling of fabric continued until there was nothing but silence. The air was thick with tension, with waiting. Fingers drummed against the back of his shoulder and he flinched against it before her palm settled along the thin skin of his shoulder blade. He took in a shaky breath.
“Move up a bit.” She said with a gentle nudge to his shoulder.
“Baela, we shouldn’t-“
“We’re doing nothing wrong.” Her hand slid up to his hairline, into the damp curls there, “Just sharing water, I promise. There’s no sin in that, in sharing.”

After Luke's funeral, Jace and Baela share a bath.
