Su corazón no podría, no quería que escaparan las palabras que estaban en la punta de su lengua. Pero...
Era consciente de que no importaría lo que eligiera.
Ya no había manera de cambiarlo.
Y, para él, se hizo tarde antes de siquiera notarlo.
Así que, antes de que pudiera arrepentirse, junto al malestar revuelto en su estómago, las palabras salieron sin pensarlo.
«Te ayudaré, Sonic».

San Valentín está a la vuelta de la esquina y el erizo azul más veloz que existe tendrá que reunir valor para ese día.
¿Por qué?, se preguntarán.
Bueno... para descubrirlo, primero Sonic tendrá que afrontar su rechazo al compromiso y las discusiones que tiene consigo mismo.
No obstante, la espera solo provocaba que la inquietud en él creciera sin control.
Por su parte, Shadow, quien estaba al límite más estrecho de la negación, tenía que resolver el gran aprieto en el que metió a su pobre corazón.
¿Llegará a expresar lo que siente? ¿O se lo tragará su conocido orgullo imperturbable?
Ambos erizos eran ajenos a que, probablemente, sus problemas están en igualdad de condiciones.

Shadow’s subconscious begged him to retreat, knowing that what he was about to say was not what he truly wanted. His heart could not, would not, let the words escape. Yet…
He knew it no longer mattered what he chose.
It was already too late.
So before he could regret it, with turmoil twisting in his stomach, the words spilled out unbidden.
“I’ll help you, Sonic.”
...Valentine’s Day is drawing near, and the fastest blue hedgehog must face his fear.
Why, you may ask.
Well... to find out, Sonic will first have to face his aversion to commitment and the arguments he has with himself.
Yet waiting only made it worse, his anxious thoughts a growing curse.
For his part, Shadow, who was on the verge of denial, had to resolve the predicament he had put his poor heart in.
Will he confess what lies inside, or let his pride keep love denied?
Both hedgehogs were unaware that their struggles unified.

Summary
Sonic es dado por muerto tras desaparecer en conjunto con las Chaos Emeralds por más de diez años. Sus amigos buscaron explicación certera a su ausencia, pero después de tanto tiempo, poco a poco han ido perdiendo la esperanza. Shadow, sumergido en una depresión psicótica, comenzó a ser atormentado en sueños por una entidad demoníaca que se hacía llamar Sonic the Hedgehog.
No importaba cuántas alternativas buscara, ni cuántas veces intentara acabar con su vida; jamás recuperaría su alma, perdida en los confines de aquella pesadilla. Pero… ¿Y si no era solo una pesadilla?
Todos lo tomaban por loco.
"Ha perdido la cabeza."
"Pasaron años, ya debe superarlo."No. Shadow sabía que el infierno en el que estaba sumido trascendía mucho más allá de un simple producto de su mente. Tenía que evitarlo, detenerlo antes de que tomara el control por completo... antes de que fuera demasiado tarde para remediarlo.
Entonces… siendo consciente de todo eso…
