He must sound desperate, because that's how he feels. Desperate like a dog. Fiending for scraps, battering its paws against a chain-link fence. Suguru wants to grab you by the cheeks and look into your eyes until you believe him, but he can't let himself be so uninhibited with you— doesn't want to say too much and end up pushing you away.
He just wishes you would take his hand when it's offered to you. That's all.
Your face is framed by strings of shadow, waves of them caressing your cheekbones, down-turned and shut-out. "I want to," he echoes. "You don't let me do enough."

Summary
iTrapped once thought himself clever, untouchable even, as if the world would bend kindly to his mischief. Friends were just anchors he believed would never slip from his grasp, but greed keeps its own ledger, and the Banlands is a merciless place.
Then Ellernate and Caleb are swallowed whole in hell, their absence maddening to iTrapped's mind. He tells himself he will fix it, he whispers it often enough that it almost sounds like a prayer.
Then he sheds his name like an old skin, lets Chance drape him in friendship and easy laughter, and wears the mask of someone who deserves it. The gambler doesn't see the blade in front of him, or perhaps he chooses not to. Either way, the smile he offers is too trusting, and iTrapped swears that it’s only survival.
