Bruce looked down at the cigar, turning it slightly between his fingers.
"Old habits die hard."
Clark raised an eyebrow.
"Apparently."
Bruce took another slow drag, his gaze returning to the skyline.
"Some habits are harder to break than others."
Clark smiled faintly.
"Yeah. I suppose they are."
Clark's gaze slowly drifted toward Bruce.
Bruce brought the cigar to his lips and took another slow inhale, the tip glowing faintly in the darkness. He held the smoke for a moment before exhaling, his eyes still fixed on the skyline.
The wind lightly brushed through Bruce's dark hair, lifting a few strands from his forehead. With the city lights behind him and the faint glow of the cigar illuminating his features, he looked like he had stepped straight out of a movie.

Summary
Ryland Grace hasn't had a heat since well before the Project Hail Mary mission. He didn't think he needed to worry about having heats on Erid until he realized he was in preheat. While gathering supplies, his fellow biodome occupant, a skittish man named Simon that he and Rocky rescued on the way to Erid, offers to help him out. Grace is opposed to the idea until he realizes that Simon is also an omega. With the threat of spending his first heat in years alone, he agrees. Things only escalate from there.

Grace accidentally triggers Simon's heat halfway through his own. They both end up pregnant.

Unfortunately, the scientists failed to account for one important variable:
Grace is a fucking menace.
Now Rocky has to deal with the possibility that his human avatar might be a little too useful, Grace is having entirely too much fun with the scientific breakthrough, and Adrian is wondering why they ever agreed to let these two have access to advanced biotechnology.

The last thing he remembers is the walls of the sub exploding inwards as the last remaining space filled with air around him was flooded with thick blood. He thrust the black box with the life jacket out with his hand, hoping, praying, that it would reach the surface and the COI would find it.
Everything went black.
And then he opened his eyes. The sub was intact, still partially flooded with blood, but it was floating all around him instead of settling at the bottom. Simon was in zero gravity.
