Mother Magic was angry.
Lord Death was livid.
Someone dared mess with what was theirs. They had so few to cherish and this lowly human thought himself above them all.

Now if only they could get their blessed on the right track, and Death's Master awakened; that would help greatly.

In a flash of motion the blade of Excalibur rests against the hollow of Merlin's neck.
‘You are not fighting back,’ Arthur breathes with the shock and disgust a man can only feel when expecting pain and not receiving it, ‘is it out of trust, or do you truly not care if you die?’
