"The item arrived while Martin was on his lunch break. It was small and flat with intricate carvings marked onto the surface. He didn’t see who delivered it, it was just on his desk when he got back. He went to get Jon, too paranoid from his Prentiss experience to just pick the thing up. Jon was reluctant to leave his work, but he followed Martin back to his desk. He walked over to investigate, and as he did, the carvings on the item flashed with blue light, just for a second. It was over quickly enough that Martin thought he might have imagined the whole thing."
Martin and Jon get stuck in a time loop together and have to figure out how to free themselves.

Quentin is expelled from Brakebills and has his memories wiped. Eliot keeps his promise to seduce him.
Quentin sat in Dean Fogg’s office, shaking. In a few minutes every memory of magic that he had was going to be removed and there was nothing he could do about it. Finding out about magic had lifted him from a world where he hadn’t fit in, it had given him purpose, it had given him something to live for. As soon as he went back to his old life he was just going to become as depressed as he had been before. He thought for a moment about what Eliot had said; that he would find him and seduce him and so make life retain its sparkle for decades. Quentin wondered if he had meant it. It was a strange thing to think about with the threat of a magicless life looming over him, but for some reason he found it oddly comforting

“Q, talk to me.” Julia said, but how could he? How could he possibly explain what was going on in his head?
“I just want to get Eliot back.” He said, but his voice gave away more than he wanted it to. He could see from Julia’s face that she had figured it out. She placed a hand gently on his shoulder.
“You and Eliot…?” She asked. A small, broken laugh escaped him.
“There is no me and Eliot.” He said.

Summary
Some people make the mistake of assuming he's naive about sex, for the simple reason he hasn't dated in a while. Tim has called him a prude, at one point, and implied that he was somehow afraid of the intimacy required by the act; he wasn’t entirely wrong, but this definitely isn’t the reason for Jon's disinterest and general bafflement toward what most people seemed to consider as "what makes them human".
Jon simply hasn't found the right person. That is all it is: high standards, and a reticence to let people in.
(In which Jon finds out society is wrong about what a romantic relationship should be.)
