Henry leans forward and kisses him on the forehead. “Indeed.”
There’s a sort of thoughtful pause, where Henry can see Alex working to pull together the right words. “I’m not sure I’ve ever seen you that… thirsty?”
“Oh, bugger off,” Henry says, but he’s laughing. It’s a fair description.
“No, but I mean it. You were like… urgent. It was hot.”

Buck doesn’t really have an answer because that question hits way to fucking close to home. A year or so ago he would have said, yes, I was an accident, so I know how that goes, but Buck knows better now. Knows that he would almost give anything for that answer to still be yes. Evie’s finger works under the seal to rip it open, a stack of important looking papers dumping out onto the table in front of her.
“Not me,” she says without looking up as she organizes them into a neat stack, “I was engineered.”

Buck didn’t do it on purpose. Like most things in his life, it just sort of… happened.
It started slowly with Buck being unable to throw away the scribbled pictures that Christopher had drawn for him on his fridge or the multitude of cards the kid had gifted him for holidays and illnesses and just because he missed Buck. His wallet was stuffed with ticket stubs to every zoo trip, every aquarium visit, and every movie theater afternoon they spent together.
Soon, Buck had too many memories of a child who wasn’t his scattered around his apartment. He couldn’t bring himself to throw any of it away, even the weathered bracelets from the first carnival he took Christopher to, so he had to find something else to store it in.
Or... Buck (accidentally) starts a baby box for Christopher and Eddie finds out.

“Okay here, I found it in the park.” Buck kind of mumbled, like he was slightly embarrassed. When Eddie realized Buck was holding something in front of his face he opened his eyes and was suddenly met with a rock. Before Eddie could say anything, Buck started talking again. “I thought it was pretty and was like ‘I kind of want that pretty rock’ and then I thought ‘Eddie deserves to have a pretty rock’ and I sort of just, brought it home.
Eddie kind of just stares at the rock for a second before quickly realizing that a second might be too much time to just stare because Buck is pulling his hand away and not saying anything. He really doesn’t know what to say in this situation. Mostly because he has so many things to say. So instead of turning around and collecting his thoughts to have a proper conversation with Buck, he just blurts out, “Wow I really love you.”
