The first thing Yuugi expected when he was dragged into the barricaded part of the forest by his ghost-enthusiast friend Bakura was that he'd see a fallen log here or a scary-looking tree there, but would more-or-less leave with just a quickened heartbeat. He wasn't expecting to "actually" see any ghosts.

Summary
Joey Wheeler, the protagonist of our book, found himself bloodied and bruised, seeking shelter in a dark and rainy park. He limped and almost fell against the trunk of a tree, its pink petals almost beautiful if it weren't for the sickening rain. Such a tall and beautiful tree. Joey felt as if he was intruding. He thought it was a sight for sore eyes; a beautiful thing next to something so disgusting. The pretty and captivating with the eye-sore.
The rain grew dense and he felt as if ice cubes were falling on his neck and back. The tree tried its hardest to protect the boy, but droplets flew past soaked branches. He reasoned that this must be someone telling him that nothing can help him now.
He closed his eyes and accepted it all. The cold, the pain, the wind on his face, hell, even the migraine growing louder in his skull...
But the sound of strong footsteps is not one he expected.

Kira and his notebook were the reason the Capitol won over the districts. The dystopia of the Games is back in full swing, but when he'd said he wanted to be the God of the New World, he hadn't meant this.
As a prisoner of Panem, Light Yagami has power but no throne, and so he has nothing at all.
So, yes, it was bad enough before L decided to traipse onscreen with his stupid grin and minimal odds of survival.

“I was wondering if it would still be possible for me to actually eat and digest food. I was going to test this theory while you were out, but I… seem to be unable to pick things up. Can Light-kun buy me a slice of cake from the nearby bakery?”
“I’m busy.”
“Light-kun hates me…He wants me to starve and die again…”
Light turns off his computer and gets ready for bed. L continues sitting on the desk, patiently observing him.
“Are you going to keep staring at me while I sleep?”
“Is that a problem?”
“...Nevermind.”
Light could not sleep that night.

Summary
During the events of the Yotsuba arc, Light starts acting a little...off. Despite his time commitment to the Kira case, he manages to wash his clothes, brush his teeth, and keep the room he shares with L clean as he would back home, and yet, for weeks he refuses to bathe! L doesn't care about it much himself—hasn't been able to since the use of the human washing machine became out of question—but how can he not be interested when his number one suspect is acting so out of the ordinary? He predicts that Light won't last much longer, though, taking his personality, habits, and image into account.
Or, a fic in which Yotsuba!Light Yagami is avoiding taking a shower while he's chained to L. This is, in part, because he's working hard to keep anyone from finding out that he's trans, but also because taking a shower with L would be gay and Light's obviously not. Obviously.

This Sphinx wants to be his friend though, and Atem can’t help falling for him.
