Summary
In the end, there was nothing special about the Erlking and his ever growing procession. Every Heathcliff had experienced that cycle of violence of Wuthering Heights; the dead and lamented Earnshaws filling Hindley's heart with resentment and hatred, passed onto the despised child of the manor. Every Heathcliff eventually fled the manor to seek their fortune and then return to it for a final reckoning.
Regardless of whether or not they succeeded, that roiling blackness was present in their every heart. Every Heathcliff, with the right impetus, could allow that blackness to spread and foment until that same EGO burst outwards, with the parade of the restless spectres of the dead following forth. Genuinely a pretty good read, I've read the entire fic several times over! ^__^
The world building is very interesting, and the (doomed) yaoi is nice, especially when you know the story/lore of LobCorp and Library of Ruina -- I've had so many moments where I effectively point at the screen and go 'hey I recognize that!' e.g. the actual Carmen jumpscare.
Overall, I've had a lot of fun with this fic, and I am very much looking forward to the next update whenever it comes around! :D(Also, every time Benjamin has a moment where he thinks about how awful prosthetic bodies are, I tend to grimace slightly knowing what's going to happen in the future. >__<")
