Summary
“While that was fun,” Wei Wuxian says lowly. “We’ve got places to be, Lan-gongzi. So throw down your sword and come quietly—you wouldn’t want this one dying too, hm?”
“L-Lan-gongzi, don’t listen to him—!” The driver cuts himself off with a whimper when Wei Wuxian presses his blade a little harder against his throat, just enough to draw blood.
“You are in no position to be making demands, friend,” Wei Wuxian warns with a sharp grin.
Wei Wuxian has been working as Wen Ruohan's best mercenary for six years. Lan Wangji is the esteemed second son of Qingheng-jun. By no means should they ever cross paths, but when Wei Wuxian is assigned to capturing Lan Wangji, they both find themselves the unwitting recipients of past memories they didn't even know they had.

Neither of them were at the window, but there it sat, taped to the window. Wei Wuxian’s sloppy bold characters were set apart from the multitude of A-Yuan’s drawings that littered the window, and Lan Wangji read the words with a giddy, trembling feeling in his chest.

Summary
Lan Wangji didn't look out across the other apartment building often, but now, as he scooped up his escaped rabbit, he looked over only to see a piece of paper taped to the window of the apartment across from him. It was written on purple construction paper in big block letters, like a child had written it.
WHAT'S YOUR BUNNY'S NAME???
And they were quarantined.
Oh my god, they were quarantined.

Summary
La mano de Wei Wuxian se sacude, derramando un poco de vino sobre la mesa. “¿Amor?” chilla, luego se aclara la garganta y vuelve a intentarlo. “Lan Zh—uh. ¿Hanguang-jun, enamorado?”
Resulta… sorprendentemente efectivo.

Summary
This odd new push and pull between them is something Wei Wuxian is just discovering, and he’s also discovered that he likes the ideas it gives him - hug Lan Zhan, run your fingers along his arms, get him to look at you, say your name - the simple light that being with Lan Wangji brings to his life, the feeling that he could smile forever if Lan Wangji stood by his side.
Wei Wuxian arrives at the Cloud Recesses, breaks at least seven rules, and gets his heart stolen by the prettiest boy he's ever met, in that exact order.
(Or: 5 times Wei Wuxian smiled at Lan Wangji, and 1 time Lan Wangji smiled back.)

Summary
The picture of himself and Lan Zhan that the gossip and rumors are painting is alluring, tempting, captivating – in love, together, kissing, sleeping together every night - oh, how captivating. A far better picture than Wei Wuxian sitting in a inn missing Lan Zhan with every breath after three weeks at Nie Huaisang’s whining about how much he missed Lan Zhan and yet not quite daring to do something about it; meanwhile Lan Zhan is being His Excellency and making the cultivation world hopefully better, but on his own, possibly missing Wei Wuxian as well. (Hopefully missing him, Wei Wuxian is selfish enough to think.)
Maybe it’s time to be a little daring – and make the rumors come true, one at a time.

Summary
“I am going to Yanli-jie’s,” Lan Zhan grits out. “To film,” he adds pointedly, hitching his bag full of filming equipment a little higher on his shoulder.
“At her flat?” asks his brother, eyes twinkling.
“Yes,” says Lan Zhan resignedly.
“Wonderful,” says Lan Huan. “Although, those sandalwood notes of your cologne - while very lovely and intense - good choice, brother... I don’t think they’re quite strong enough for your channel’s viewers to catch.”
Lan Zhan exhales. Here it comes.
“Unless,” says Lan Huan, “The reason for all this is at your friend’s flat instead? A person, perhaps?”
(AU where film student Lan Zhan is an accidental vlogging sensation under the name Hanguang-jun, keeps running into his best friend Jiang Yanli’s younger brother far more frequently than he’d like, and suffers.)

Summary
Wei Wuxian is an aspiring horror novelist who just can't seem to catch his long awaited big break. The publishing industry is quite monopolized by just a couple large companies. Of which, the prestigious Gusu Lan holds the largest influence. As an act of desperation, Wei Wuxian submits his manuscript to Gusu Lan for an in-person review. After it fails spectacularly, his brother Jiang Cheng offers his small graphic novel store as a means to build a following.
Lan Wangji is the second son of the late CEO of Gusu Lan Publishing. He's known for his strict adherence to rules and allusive personality, however when he catches a single glimpse of quite the character storming out of his company's office, he can't help but become a little bit curious.
The rest is...well, convoluted and awkward history.
AKA, the modern au where I wound up writing a hell of a lot more than I should have.
